The landscape of UET is ruined under unknown circumstances over many years. The main
problems students and faculty are facing are that entrance of main subdivision is not up to
date, walkways are unpaved and muddy, the parking lot is also unpaved, Drainage is poor in
tennis court, lack of greenery and flower beds in university, soil run-off from several steep
places, etc.

Landscape Problems:
There are mainly two landscape problems in the university which have to be considered
in our check & balance. These problems have to be dealt ASAP.

 The first major problem is that the entrance of the subdivision is poorly landscaped. It
looks too melancholy for the people crossing from there or going into the building, no
flower beds or trees are there.
 The second major problem is that the common area of campus is the worst in terms of
landscape. The common area is the most crowded area of the university and has no
proper benches for students and even grass patches are only there which gives a bad
picture and low environment of the university.

Unpaved areas:
This also includes two major problems in the university and those are following:

 The first major problem is that the walkways between dormitories and academic
buildings are unpaved and muddy. This causes the students a huge drawback from
traveling from one area to another on a rainy day or even on normal days as mud or
dust in the area makes their shoes and clothes dirty. Plus, in the rainy season, if students
come from outside, they bring mud with themselves under their shoes and all the
building floors get sticky and muddy.
 The second major problem regarding this is the unpaved parking lot for the students
and faculty and as this parking lot is far from the main buildings so the problems stated
in the above point apply here also.
Poor Drainage:
This problem is concerning the tennis court’s poor drainage system. As it has both grass
court and the concrete court so in the rainy season the drainage of the tennis court gets
clogged and water remains in the court making it difficult for the students to play there the next
day. This is due to poor piping for drainage there and also due to not giving little steepness in
the court which results that the water gets collected in the court and its evaporation takes days
and students are unable to enjoy this facility and cannot practice.

Lack of Horticulture:
The area surrounding the new office building has no landscape, no proper calming sight.
There is negligible number of flower beds and bushes in that area. This is one of the most
important things and has to be dealt ASAP. A new building should give a modern and calming
look but due to these missing things, it is looking a dejected sight.

Sustainability:
As the things I have proposed, many of them need a clear area to be executed but in
clearing the area many large trees have to be cut down and we will not do that. We will save
almost all the trees or we will build things around them or we can think of some other way to
save them.

Conclusion:
These are all the problems I have observed at the University of Engineering and
Technology. These problems should not have occurred as you have many gardeners. These
renovations will be a little costly but will make your campus outstand in all the universities.
We have to report these problems to superiors so that they could be taken care of. The
best way of overcoming these problems is to pave all the unpaved walkways and parking lots,
installing benches and growing grass and flower beds in many places to give the campus a
calming and mesmerizing sight. I hope in future you will consider us again for our best services.
