Present Tense Expresses:
• Repeated or habitual action
• Facts or general truths
• Permanent condition
• Happening in the present

Past Tense Expresses action or state of being, which


happened in the past
Future Tense Indicates future time or action that will still
happen
Simple Tenses Form
Present Tense • Use the base form if the subject is plural.
• Use the s form if the subject is singular.
• cook/cooks
Past Tense • Add –d or –ed to regular verbs (cooked)
• Follow rules in changing forms of
irregular verbs (drank)

Future Tense • will or shall + base form of the verb


(will/shall cook)
• Am, is, are + going to
