Crime and Its Issues `

Generally one would ask what it actually mean by the term crime, well a number of

sources have stated that this is an activity that is composed of a breach which is by the statutes its

prohibited.by there are a number criminal issues that warrants stating that It’s an illegality that

calls for penalty and criticism in a manner that may involve payment or even one going to jail

(Dugato, Favarin, & Bosisio, 2018).it however should be noted that its very complicated trying

to identify the difference when a person has really committed a crime or if its jut an offense. As

such, this essay will be focusing on analysis, explore more and check how to put in practice the

ideas emanating from the criminal issue, this is in relation with a hypothetical case of “cat

fishing” of the sex workers..

Looking at the target backcloth is very imperative for a complete comprehension of the

formal planning of the criminal happening sites or locations were the crimes are perceived to be

happening. It is made up of the two which consist of the geographical together with mundane

sharing of the most fitting targets or even those being preyed on in the given area (Rytterstedt,

2016). Study shows that the presence of a given targets at some point may depend on the place of

its happening together with the effect that period of time do have on that area. That is the time of

the day, week, month or even the year, season and thus the use of the backcloth.

The backcloth concepts are clearly seen from the case study of catfishing of sex workers

where police officers are seen in a number of state abusing their powers as they try to hand the

sex workers as they are permitted to get serviced by these workers as a favor while they are in

the line duty. Furthermore, those acclaimed officers have been said to be pausing to report on all

the sex workers to their partners. They have farther provided false information on them about the

outcome of their talking coercing them to sign on the statements at the same time they withheld
CRIME AND ITS ISSUES 3

the truth. Here the police who are the offenders have been seen to come up with well-structured

methodology of getting to sex workers and they only do this in a few given states. The sex

workers on the other hand as well being the victims are found to be strategically found in one

location which makes it easier for this offenses from the police officers can easily be executed.

They farther have a well-defined time of operation that do make the interactions with the police

officer very easy to happen.

Hunting methodologies used by criminals in getting to their victims could be grouped

into either search for the most befitting victim or the mode of attack .these serial criminals are

considered to be hunters tat do go round trying to locate their prey in modes tat do replicate those

used by the hunting animals .and just like the other wild beasts they also tend to employ on

various hunting techniques that they o apply on their victims. It’s also believed that the mode

used by predator on their target are determined by offending’s operational works, location of the

prey, surroundings together with the situational cues. During the studies done on the target hints

it was established that the surrounding and the prey hints were very instrumental n identifying

and analyzing the predator damage and effects.fr instance in the case of burglary, the burglars

would fist try to find out if the place they did intend to rob do have any security measures in

place.in a case where the place seemed like it doesn’t have many people its likely that they

would go to an extent of looking the those living I the neighborhood.

For instance in the research done on the burglars in St Louis, “Wright and Decker” did

conclude that those predators had located the location to carry out their burglary activities using

one among the following ways. They had information about the their prey, that is the person that

they were robbing from; it’s very likely that someone tipped them from that same residence or

house, This could as well be referred to an inside job; and then the most likely one is that they
CRIME AND ITS ISSUES 4

did create to find out the possible potential soft target spots that could well aid them in

accomplishing the operation. The burglars in this case are believed to carry out each on their

targets in different given routes or location depending with the hits that they are given.in the stud

done on the burglary happenings it was found that the women, luxury life styles were among

very high indicators for ne being target.

Journey to crime basically does indicate that the normal schedule to a location reliance

methodologies comes up with a number of assumptions specifically concerning the living place

of a known predator of any kind .it’s a form of identification that tries to map out the likelihood

serial predator to be staying in a given pace.it applies use of the location hypothesis (Chopin, &

Caneppele, 2019). From the researcher Marcus Felson, offenders tend to employ given ways of

getting to their victims; using the personal information of the victim, for instance a kid in the

neighborhood could probably be having knowledge of you being around or not; second, through

varied activities.

For instance we have burglars that work a home serviceprviders or mail deliverers, or just

a telephone operator who in the process of doing their job they get to hear your conversation

over the phone, where for instance you happen to mention that you will not be around.ths creates

an opportunity for that particular persona may try to arrange for burglary in the area; then the

overlaying functionalities, this is the main factor of influence when it comes to crime happening

patterns or models as it was then designed. They greatly us this idea in exploring the ways in

which the predators locate the victims while on their daily operations .they did design a

triangular model which tends to explain that the movement of offenders entails moving from

their area of residence to their places of work, and the finally to the places of enjoyment. Farther

studies on the same do reveal that most people involved in the crime cases does it within very
CRIME AND ITS ISSUES 5

short radius within where thy stay. Andy Brumwell in his analysis of the crimes asserts that close

to the half of all the predators’ alleged made less than a mile distance to the place of

occurrence.distancss covered also did vary with the form of the crime being committed.

Geographical profiling being a mode through which the identification of an area that

shows a history of related and probably networked number of criminal activities its can be relied

on to establish the most probable area where the offender may be staying. Involving both the

approximated together with the countable modes its approximated that one can easily get to

comprehend the conduct of the predator and with such revelation, the inspecting organs of the

security can easily be able to identify a given reduced size area to commence their investigation

in order to establish the real location of the offender. This I very crucial as it’s of the utmost

importance to helping the police to narrow down the prioritize on the kind of information in a

bigger range especially in large scale cases that do involve numerous perceived

personnel.furthermoe, this can help the fact finders to access other useful communications

whether the happenings were result of an open chances and the magnitude of the level of

predator being aware of the Site of the crime.

Generally, the defensible space is the living surroundings where its tangible feature such

as the houses, and the neighborhood planning is design in such a way that it gives the residences

some lead roles in managing their own safety. study by Oscar Newman reveals that a perfectly

design defensible space does give the area residences feel of ownership together with the

responsibility of their own security. And as such they get motivated to guard this space for

anything as well it show farther that the more defensive space residence are provided with is

likely to lead to a reduced crime rate In that area. For example the UK police’s program

“Secured by Design 1998” has been very progressive program from which numerous homesteads
CRIME AND ITS ISSUES 6

have managed to enjoy the defensive space through the initiative (Mawby, (2017). Nevertheless

this program does depend fully on the willingness of all the involved residents to execute the

program.in the case of catfishing on the sex workers by the police could a well be avoided by the

sex workers being provided with defensible space from the police who happen to be the

predators in this case. However this could only work I the sex workers are willing to engage in

the program.
