Scripture Text: Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers and read it;
and Hezekiah went up to the house of the LORD and spread it before the LORD. And
Hezekiah prayed before the LORD and said: "O LORD, the God of Israel, enthroned above
the cherubim, you are the God, you alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; you have made
heaven and earth. (2 Kings 19:14-15)

Creative Devotional Title: What’s On Your Mind?

Devotional:
According to Statista.com, a German market and consumer data company, the Philippines
tops the list in Social Media Users Statistics as Filipinos spend almost four hours a day in
social media—the highest screen time among countries around the world in 2020. Filipinos
seem to lead social media users on the internet on answering Facebook’s home screen
question: “What’s On Your Mind?” On other social media platforms, each second has about
9,300 tweets sent to the worldwide web, about 1000 Instagram posts are shared by users,
and the count goes on and on and on.

When King Hezekiah was faced by the threats posed by the Assyrians, his response was
nothing but going after the true medium. He did not use a messenger to ask Isaiah to pray, he
rather prayed directly before the Lord and cried out to Him (2 Kings 19:14-15). What he did
could be an exact opposite of the trend people would do nowadays with the use of social
media. People reach their fingers onto their phones, typing what is on their minds, sharing
photos of what they feel is right, and asking for validation through reactions on social media.
King Hezekiah not just went to the right platform, he acknowledged God as the true and the
only source of answers and deliverance from his enemies. In response, God not only
destroyed 185,000 of the Assyrian troops (and ultimately Sennacherib himself) but also gave
Hezekiah personal assurance.

God’s responsiveness to the faith of His people is our confidence in times of uncertainties
around us. We can rely on His promises that He hears every word we utter, wipes away every
tear we cry, and He even knows the hidden things that dwell in our minds. Tweets are limited
by 280 characters, but God’s power is unlimited and His presence is everywhere. And so,
instead of reaching your phone first thing in the morning, why not reach down to a platform of
prayer and tell God what’s on your mind.
