1. Define the term nutrition, nutrients and food and nutrient.

 Nutrition is the study of food, nutrients is the chemical substances that we get in the
food, and food is when a digested nourishes in the body. Nutrient is the chemical that
may get in our food that gives nourishment in our body.

2. How food is related to health.

 Food is our source of energy, food is one who gives us the strength. One of the major
factor to get a healthy body is having the balance diet in eating. We may get variety
of essential nutrients is the food to help our metabolism and immune system strong.

3. Explain statement “You are what you eat”

 For me, this statement is not suitable for everyone. I eat a lot but I can’t gain a weight
that I desire. Some person eats a lot but still, they never get fat because of their
metabolism. You are what you eat, still we are the one who is deciding what we
choose to eat for us to maintain ourselves healthy and strong. In the perspective of
other people because of weight , some are judging without knowing the how the
process of food in our body.

4. What do you understand by adequate nutrition

 Good nutrition is an important part of leading a healthy lifestyle. By having the


proper diet or proper balance of food helps us to make ourselves healthy. An adequate
and balanced diet contributes to achieve or maintain a good state of health.

5. How will you use your knowledge of nutrition ?

 In this topic we will learn the nutrients that our food gives us, we will determine if its
healthy or unhealthy or something too much for our health. The knowledge that I will
gain from this subject is a big help for me to advised my family what should we eat
and how it is important to have a balanced diet.

6. Discuss the essential nutrients and give example for each.


 Carbohydrates – one of the source of energy in the body
Ex. Grains , bread, rice , crackers and cerial.
 Fats – source of energy and essential fatty acids.
Ex. Avocados, cheese, Dark chocolate and whole eggs.
 Proteins – increases body resistance to diseases and repair and build body tissue
Ex. Poultry, fish and seafood, Eggs
 Minerals – keeping our bones, muscle, heart and brain work properly
Ex. Nuts, Meat, Cereals, Milk and dairy food.
 Vitamins – helps to heal wounds and also convert food into energy.
Ex. Dark leafy, pork, beef, mushrooms, sweet bell peppers
 Water – help the body regulate temperature and maintain bodily function.
Ex. Apple(85%), Orange(86%), tomatoes (95%)
