Wednesday 14th April 2021, 8.00 -9.30pm by Zoom

1. Helen warmly welcomed 40 members including our guests Liz Platts and Beki
Dickinson-Vyse . Apologies were received from Laura C., Sue R. , Dawn , Jaine
and Claire A.

2.We had an excellent talk by Megan Maltby, the Public Engagement Manager for
The Commonwealth War Graves Commission. Megan was a fluent and
enthusiastic speaker with excellent slides and at the end of this very informative
and interesting talk she personalised it by talking about the Commonwealth War
Graves in High Wycombe Cemetery . Their aim is that every Commonwealth
person who died in action or as a result of WW1 and WW2 be commemorated
by a permanent headstone or memorial. They maintain 1.1 million war graves
and many memorials from WW1 and WW2 at 23,000 locations around the
world.

Megan said that more information about the Commonwealth War Graves
Commission can be found on their website.

Helen then thanked Megan for a very interesting talk and suggested that, when
circumstances allow, Wycombe Wenches will organise a trip to Runnymead.
This idea was very enthusiastically received. Helen then thanked Jen for
suggesting this talk and Heather for arranging it.

5.AOB : Heather , Wycombe Wenches programme organiser, drew members

attention to the selection process for entry into the county book of

which three speakers each give a short presentation .There are two of these
auditions organised in the near future-Wed. April 28th at 2.15pm and Thursday
May 6th at 7pm. Heather will be attending these events and would welcome
another member to join her. If you are interested please email Wycombe
Wenches on wycombewenches@hotmail.com. or text Heather directly.

A question was asked as to when we might resume meeting indoors for our
monthly meeting. Helen said that she hopes that, government advise permitting,
this may happen in September at Totteridge Community Centre. In the
meantime we will move forward by meeting outdoors over the summer. Judith
is responsible for organising Health and Safety guidelines for events organised
across the county for BFWI and she will guide us on this.
