these students. New teachers will find this resource particularly valuable.

when developing learning objectives and instructional activities, monitoring
academic progress, and more to help your culturally diverse students be
successful.
 Think critically and creatively - Critical thinking requires fluidity!  It is divergent
AND convergent. It is finding a solution to a problem–a solution that works best
for that particular situation, time, and experience. Creative thinking can be
taught with practice and typically produces something unique, original,
and fresh.
 Possess 21’st century skills - refers to a broad set of knowledge, skills, work
habits, and character traits that are believed—by educators, school reformers,
college professors, employers, and others—to be critically important to success
in today’s world, particularly in collegiate programs and contemporary careers
and workplaces. Generally speaking, 21st century skills can be applied in all
academic subject areas, and in all educational, career, and civic settings

“active” role in the education experience.

4. What are the thoughts about the practice in the Philippines of adapting curriculum models
and programs from other countries especially in USA?

Five years ago, the Philippines was the only country in Southeast Asia which provided
just 10 years of basic education to its population but ever since the K to 12 implementation, the
country has joined its neighbors in adopting an education system which will provide more
opportunities to students on a global scale. Continued reform in the education sector is essential
but with the K to 12 program, this has put the country on the right track.
When people heard news of the K-12 program implementation in the country, it
received mixed reactions. Suddenly, there was a combination of backlashes and praise in the
background with the students left puzzled on whose voice to listen to. There are still challenges
and standards of quality to consider but the important thing is to establish that development is
present as a result of the new program.

5. Do you think the information you learned from your professional education courses are
enough to develop your knowledge and appreciation of education as a fixed of study? Explain
your answer.

In my own point of view, yes it will be a great start for me as an educator. I believe being
able to take teaching units before teaching in Senior High school will help to deliver the lessons
effectively and efficiently.

One of the most important factors in raising student achievement is a highly qualified
teacher.  In this era of high standards and high expectations, having a highly qualified teacher
has never been more important. Learning is a continuous process, having all the information and
knowledge that I had learned from my course will make it easier for me to adapt and start and
develop my teaching skills.
