Course Objectives:
1. Develop the understanding and comprehend the fundamental aspects of green & sustainable business and
industry practices through supply chains
2. Develop the understanding on greening of upstream product organization including greening of design,
procurement, and evaluation of supplier’s environmental performance.
3. Comprehension on downstream activities related to usage of products till finally consumed focusing on
recovering and recycling opportunities.
4. Develop understanding and analyze the key elements of green supply chain management in reference to
planning, production, packaging, marketing and carbon management.
Learning Outcomes:
1. Analyze the importance of Green supply chain management with respect to enterprise competence,
environmental protection and products sustainability.
2. Evaluate the resolution and assessment of Green Product using a life cycle approach
3. Synthesizing Green Supply chain operations and developing its strategy.
4. Analyze financial, operations and environmental issues to use byproduct synergy to optimize production,
lower cost and reduce wastes
Prerequisite(s):
Understanding of Operations Management & Supply Chain Management
Pedagogy:
The study plan covering readings, classroom sessions, group work sessions and assignments corresponding to
each session are outlined below:
It is mandatory to go through the ‘Pre-Session Readings’ and prepare for case study discussions. Quiz or
surprise tests would be conducted on the same. For post contact reading, please refer to the handouts listed
under ‘Additional Readings’.
