The show is entitled “The Truman Show” which is directed by Peter Weir, the film was

both drama and comedy which was good back in the day when it was released in 1998. The film

lasted for 107 minutes which is pretty average for a film and I also noticed that they used the

technique called the Vignette Shot, this is when Truman is being filmed by the actors where the

cameras was somewhere hidden in their body . The main protagonist of the film is named Truman

Burbank. Truman doesn’t know it, but there are hidden cameras everywhere which captures

every move he does because he is the star of a television show called The Truman Show.

Everything and everyone around Truman isn’t real he’s just in a massive studio and the people

around him are actors hired by The executive producer of the show Christof, he is the one who

created the perfect life for Truman and he is also the one who controls everything on what will

happen in the show, he even removed Truman’s first love which was Sylvia and replacing her

with present wife Meryl just for the show, but that didn’t stop Truman. Truman loved Meryl but

he didn’t give up on Sylvia, he later had the compulsion to find Sylvia in Fiji, the place

mentioned by Sylvia before they were both departed from each other, he sailed through the seas

in order to get to Fiji, although Christof tried to stop him by altering the whether he didn’t give

up until he reached the summit, Christof then tries to negotiate with Truman, he asked Truman to

stay in the studio and continue the show, but Truman chose to leave because he wanted to be

with her true love. I think Truman did the right thing because even I would choose to leave the

perfect life for the ones I love. The movie is related in our one of our lessons in Media and

Information Literacy because of the propaganda in the film, one example is Truman not knowing
that he is in a massive studio and is a part of a television show. If I were to rate the movie I think

I would give it a solid B, the story was great was actors was good and the plot was okay but the

one problem is the audio of the film it was not the best but I understand because the film was

made in 1998 and the equipment back then was not as high tech as of today.
