When extracting the DNA of a strawberry I i said that the buffer solution

Is going to take all the cells and go to the top in big clumps and separate from the rest of the
strawberries. In class we tested out the idea as a lab . We read the materials list and procedure
steps and grabbing the strawberry’s and buffer solution and work.

Breaking down the strawberry in the bag with the buffer solution, pouring the mixture over the
cheesecloth through the funnel and into the test tube, to capture the results of the lab.

This lab is a simple way of looking and analyzing DNA from something like a strawberry
analyzing it seeing how it separates from the rest of the strawberry,

how the Buffer Solution works with or against the solution , The Effect Of DNA of Buffer
Solution On The Extraction Of DNA

Team Members: cole haas

Introduction: me and cole are going to be showing you how to extract DNA from
a strawberry

DNA translation since we couldn't extract DNA from ourselves or why any one

around us we decided to extract it from the next best thing which was fruit,
strawberries

Problem Statement: we tried to get dna out of strawberry and showcase the process

IV: The DNA buffer solution

DV: The amount of DNA that is pulled from the strawberry

Hypothesis: if the Dna buffer solution pulls out the dna buffer solution

Materials and Methods: tube, cheesecloth

“ materials are Strawberries, Buffer solution ( dish soap and salt ), Plastic

ziplock bag, and Ethanol which are the materials for the beginning of the lab where you
squish

the strawberry and add liquid. The next set of materials are for the second part of the lab Cheese

cloth , Funnel , Apparatus and Glass rod. These materials help with the second part of the
lab
which includes straining the strawberry into the apparatus and extracting the strawberry DNA.

Procedure:

1. Place one strawberry in a ziplock bag

2. Squish the strawberry using your fists (for 2 minutes do not break the bag)

3. Add the 10ml a buffer solution

4. need the strawberry in the bag with the solution for 1 minute

5. put the funnel on top of the cheese cloth and across the top of the funnel place
the

cheesecloth and slowly pour the strawberry DNA into the funnel over the
cheesecloth

6. slowly pour buffer solution into the vile

7. drop the glass rod into the vile stir It around and check to see if there is any DNA

on the glass rod.

Lab Step Observation

Mashing strawberries made them turn into a paste

Discussio
n

In conclusion, my hypothesis was correct there was a lot of strawberry DNA extracted
from the mashed up strawberries, My group chose a huge strawberry so we could get the most.
Of this multiple steps and each step has a purpose because it helps the lab flow smoothly and
come

together nicely, One of the steps in a lab is filtering the strawberry slurry through a cheesecloth

the purpose of the step in the lab is to make sure that the strawberry DNA is at its most fragile

point Can you get every single bit of DNA so you can further examine.
