Weekly Journal

(Week Three)
Sunday 21ft of February I started my third week of teaching practice at Ain
Jaloot school. I teach my student a math lesson about the decimals and
fractions where they comber the tenths and hundredths. For example: 1 tenth
is equivalent to 10 hundredths and this is the way to write it 0.1 = 0.10. My
mentor school teacher advises me to let the student to solve the questions
with themselves instead of helping them and I told her that I am still not
familiar with their levels of understanding because that when I choose one of
the students to answer the questions I help them even if he or she knows the
answers. On the 23rd I did another lesson about comparing the decimals. For
example 0.9 and 0.09, first we should convert the 9 tenths to 9 hundredths so
it will be 0.90 after that start to compare between the two fractions. 0.90 >
0.09 and this sign (>) means “greater than”. The students find the lesson so
easy and enjoyable. My planning for next week to prepare a lesson so my
mentor college teacher (MCT) observe me while teaching, and I am going to
teach the students about the value of the UAE coins. Moreover, I want to do
the check list with my students for my action research with is about
“Classroom management strategies in dealing with behaviors during math
class session”.
