INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background of the study

There are many changes being done to the education system along with new product
and ways of technology. It helps us in everyday work and it also makes our life easy and
efficient. Inventory helps manager secured their profits and earn money. It is important
because every owner organize their company by using inventories and transaction. The
uses of inventory is to manage the list of order, checklist and item of the customer.

Q-COLOR & GENERAL MERCHANDISE the business that also uses inventory
through manual system in everyday transaction with customer. It located in 353 Molino
III Bacoor City, Cavite. The owner of the store Irene C. Querijero. It open every Monday
to Sunday from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. They have 2 employee. The common customers of
the store are painter of house and car. The kind of product they sell are House Paints, Car
Paints and Industrial Paints. They sell products through retail and they didn’t supply other
stores but it had 10 suppliers. They keep stocks in the warehouse and they order from the
supplier by text, salesperson and email. If the customers is not satisfied with their service,
they accept returning products but in good condition.

Nevertheless, the information decreasing and time consuming in using manual

system. In using retail they earn money and they give customer needs.

1.2 Overview of Current State of Technology

It is use log book for customer record and the product that has been purchased by
their customer. When the supplier delivered the product, they usually record the new
product by using manual system. They will check the item if it is in good condition. If not
the Q-Color store will not accept the products. They current system still using manual
system and the user need to store data manually.
1.3 Project Rationale

The research about the Sales and Inventory System for Q-Color & General
Merchandise. The researchers contribute to knowledge for businesses to learn and to
improve their individual. Using inventory is time saving because they record the
information, sales and orders. This system will save all the data and this could prevent
data loss. It also help people to know the product that they want to buy. It is maintained
the list of supplies, raw manufacturing material and merchandise. It is help to manage
your business, maintaining your income and tracking record.

Chapter II

2.1 Statement of the Problem

The statement of the problem is take a lot of time in using manual system. It is no
backup and recovery. The owner has problem to in updating and editing the current data.

2.1.1 General Problem

Q-Color & General Merchandise is using manual system on the inventory of all
product.

2.1.2 Specific Problem

There are using log book in their inventory to record the sales.
 They could not easily trace down the products.
 Redundancy in entering items.
 It take much time in making their inventory.
2.2 Objective of the Study
The objective of the study is to know the inventory system that the future
companies that may need the inventory system to manage their sales, orders and
deliveries. The objective of the study is to provide information about inventory system.
2.2.1 General Objective
The general objective of the study is to know value of the inventory system and
the difference of this system to the other system.
2.2.2 Specific Objective
These are the specific objective of the study.
 To identify the strength and the weakness of the inventory system.
 To analyses the concept of the inventory system.
 To know why company such as Hardware, Mini Mart, Furniture Shops
and etc. need to use the inventory system.
2.3 Scopes and Limitation
2.3.1 Scopes
This research will provide enough information about inventory system that our
group created base in the company that we interview. Inventory system is the system that
uses to manage the sales, orders and also the deliveries. Based on Wikipedia, companies
use inventory management software to prevent product overstock and outages. Our group
interview the company named “Q-Color & General Merchandise” to get information we
needed for this research and enough data to use for our inventory system based on their
company.
2.3.2 Limitation
This research will not provide information in other system just like the cashiering
system. Cashiering System is the system that uses to receive payments and automatically
compute for the exact value or price that the consumer will have to pay. It also computes
for the change after computing the exact value or price that is needed.
