Patient confidentiality is, unsurprisingly, critical for

therapists and counseling services. It is part of the therapeutic

process of appropriate boundaries, which provides a healthy
environment for the formation of a productive working
partnership.

However, the therapist is exchanging sensitive details about a

client with a family member and a friend, and she is discussing
confidential information in a public place where it can be
overheard.

HR CONSULTANT/CLIENT CONFIDENTIALITY
Maintaining secrecy when working with a customer is critical
for creating trust with corporate executives and management
as an HR consultant. Clients must be able to put their trust in
you to freely share the details you need to do your work.

However, HR is storing classified documents on an insecure

server, which makes the data available to others, such as
exchanging workers' personal data, such as payroll numbers,
bank account information, home addresses, and medical
history.

ACCOUNTANT/CLIENT CONFIDENTIALITY
Accounting consultants have a duty to behave in the best
interests of their clients. Since you are expected to follow
rules of conduct when treating classified documents as an
accountant, existing customers often interact freely and show
information to you that could harm their company if it fell
into the wrong hands.

However, the accountant exchanging client information with a

third party without consent or authorization to do so, as well
as exploiting sensitive information for personal benefit, is not
acceptable.
