English
In our previous lesson, you have learned how to provide evidence to support opinions. This time,
you will learn how to make a stand based on informed opinion.
Opinions express an individual point of view. Opinions argue one point of view
DAY 1

and you can either agree or disagree with a thought.

An informed opinion is based on knowledge of the facts and carefully
considered principles. It relies on evidence instead of limited personal experience.

Making a Stand
You can make a stand or make a determined effort to defend something or
go against something or someone because of an informed opinion. That means
your proof or testimony is based on facts, truths, or valid grounds.

This is my Stand
Step one: Preparation Assess your opinion.
Step two: Contracting Set contract respect for others opinions and voices and call for them to
be honest but not insulting.
Step three: Formulating an opinion Reflect on a prompt or prompts which call for agreement or
disagreement with a particular statement.
Step four: Take a Stand Stand on the spot of the line that represents your opinion. You may
also stand anywhere between the two extremes, depending on how
much you do or do not agree with the statement.
Step five: Explain positions Explain why you have chosen to stand with your argument. Refer to
evidence and examples when defending your stance.
Opinion Signal Words
Believe, feel, probably, in my opinion, my point of view, always, never, none, least, most, may not
think, my impression is, advice, suggest and expect.
For example:
1. Spaghetti is more delicious than ice cream.
Opinion: I believe some of us have our favorites when it comes to food.
2. Our school is the cleanliest in Liliw, Laguna.
Opinion: I think all of the schools in Liliw, Laguna do their best to make their
school clean.

Learning Task 1

Never Stop Learning!
Maricris L. Andal
Joshua and Patrick are best friends for three years. They are both studying at the same
school in Lucena City. They treat each other like brothers. They shared food, sleep together and
do their assignments. However, classes were affected by COVID 19. As a result, classes were
cancelled on March 16, 2020.
The boys are the model students in their school because of their hard work and good
grades. They were sad that they could not go to school, so they felt glad when Ms. Maricris
Andal, their adviser told them the good news that DepEd launches DepEd Commons which will
help them while staying at home.
Joshua and Patrick use DepEd Commons in their homes. They find it exciting and
incredible, they are not just learning but they enjoy answering activities in different subjects. The
boys amenably shared what they have learned in their group chat to help their classmates who
cannot afford to access DepEd Commons. On the other hand, one of their classmates
encounters problems since he does not have an internet connection at home. Patrick and
Joshua approached their teacher. Luckily she told them that they could use DepEd Commons
even if they don’t have an internet connection.
Joshua and Patrick make their time meaningful and productive. The two boys find ways to
learn in this time of the pandemic. These students are also frontliners though they are not medical
staff like all those who fight against war for the COVID-19. They strive to learn in difficult times.

iron, copper, vitamin A, thiamine, riboflavin, at ascorbic acid. Napakar
method, hanging method at broadcast method.

DAY 2
Sabila, Halamang Gamot

Pilipinas.
of Phytotherapy sa Seoul Korea.

DAY 1

DAY 2-3

Labor Management Advisory Board, isang pampangulong lupong tagapayo.
Ramon Magsaysay (1953- 1957)

diplomang pampaaralan, at iba pang mga katibayang diplomatiko;
paglipat ng Araw ng Kalayaan ng Pilipinas sa Hunyo 12 mula Hulyo 4;
Digmaang Pandaigdig. Sagutin ang mga sumusunod na gawain.

DAY 1

The encircled numbers 4,8,12,16,20,24, and 28 form a number sequence.

A number sequence is a list of numbers in which successive terms follow a rule or a pattern. Each
number in a sequence is called a term.

If we take any two successive terms of the circled numbers on the calendar, the difference
between them is 4. Also if we add 4 to the previous term, we will get the next number in the
sequence. Therefore, the rule in the sequence 4,8,12,16,20,24 is adding 4 to the term before it.
Sequence Rule Nth term Rule Next Three
Term
a. 3, 6, 9,12,… Every term the first is obtained 3n 15,18,21
by adding 3 to the number
preceding it.
(0+3), (3+3), (6+3), (9+3),…
Or
Multiples of three
DAY 2

(3x1), (3x2),(3x3), (3x4),…

a. 1, 4, 9, 16,… Multiply the counting numbers 𝑛2 25, 36, 49
by itself or squaring counting
numbers.
12 , 22 , 32 , 42

a. 3, 1, -1, -3, … Every term after the first is -2(n-1)+3 or 5- -5, -7, -9
obtained by adding (-2) to the 2n
number preceding it.
3, [3+(-2)], [1+(-2)], [-1+(-2)], …
a. 2, 3, 4, 5, .. First term = 1+(1)=2 n+1 6, 7, 8
Second term= 2+(1)=3
Third term = 3+(1)= 4
Fourth term = 4+(1) = 5
a. 2, 4, 6, 8, … First term= 2 x (1)=2 2xn 10, 12, 14
Second term= 2x(2)=4 Or 2n
Third term = 2 x (3) = 6
Fourth term = 2 x (4) = 8
Example 2: 2, 5, 8, 11, …
Working backwards, you will notice a pattern that
subtracts 3 to get the next term on the left. Now
think of a way on how you will get each term
having a common difference of 3.
Using guess-and-check strategy:

DAY 3
Let n represent a counting number.
Guess Check Conclusion
3xn+1 3x1+1=4 This rule is wrong because
the first term in the pattern 2,
5, 8, 11 is 2 not 4
3xn–2 3x1–2=1 This is also wrong. The first
term should be 2 not 1.
3xn–1 3x1–1=2 The rule is exact for the first
term.
Let’s also check the rule for The rule is also exact for the
the other three terms. other three terms.
3x2–1=5
3x3–1=8
3 x 4 – 1 = 11
So the nth for the sequence 2, 5, 8, 11, .. is 3 x n – 1 or 3n – 1. In this example the rule 3n – 1 is
what we call expression. While 3n – 1 =4 is what we call equation.

Let’s take a look on this table

EXPRESSION EQUATION
2+5 2+5=7
2y – 4 2y – 4 = 14
14 – 3 14 – 3 = 11
5n + 6 5n + 6 = 26
10 ÷ 2 10÷ 2 = 5

walang friction?

Arts
Printmaking is one of the oldest forms where an image is transferred from
one surface to another. There are various methods of printmaking. One
of these is silkscreen printing.
Silkscreen printing technique makes use of a woven mesh to support
an ink-blocking stencil acquired using stencil to apply ink onto another
material, usually fabric, like t-shirts, pouches caps or any material that can
keep the image onto its surface.
Silkscreen printing is a viable business venture especially if you can come
up with unique designs. As in most artworks, you just need to be creative and
make sure to use the elements and principles of art as you would in traditional art.

Activity 1
Look at the following pictures and answer the questions below.

1. Which of the following t-shirt designs caught your attention? Why?

2. If you will be given a chance to think of any design for your t-shirt, what will it be and why?

3. Do you have any idea how a particular design can be transferred to your shirt?
Activity 2
Read and understand.

Silkscreen printing demonstrates the wonders of textile paint on cloth to make a print.
The materials needed for silkscreen printings are:
a. Screen frame- commonly made of wood covered tightly
with a fine mesh. The mesh is your screen which the ink will pass
through to transfer your image onto your chosen material.
b. Photosensitive emulsion and activator-sensitizer and emulsion Screen Frame
are two different things you will have to mix together to apply on the screen.
c. Screen printing ink or paint
d. Squeegee- this tool usually made of vinyl or rubber blade
e. Material to be printed- anything made from fabric such as t-shirt, bag
Photosensitive
or it can be a piece of paper or canvas. emulsion

Here are the steps for successful screen printing.

1.Choose and create your artwork to be screened. – Starters should have a
design which is simple and clear. Bold and thick lines are suggested because
printing delicate, fine-lined design requires a lot of work.
Gather your materials- Obtain all necessary materials and equipment
needed for your screen printing. Fabric Paint
3. Prepare the frame and screen – Create a wooden frame and
cover it tightly with fine mesh like screen fabric. Make sure it is stretch
and tight as possible to make the screen straight. Secure the frame
with staples around it.
4. Spread the photo emulsion into the screen -
Read the instructions on your emulsion container on how to mix it
with the sensitizer. Mix the two thoroughly according to factory instructions. Squeegee
Spread the emulsion mixture on your screen. You can place the screen on top of a black fabric
or paper to assure that it covers all the holes. Place it on dark place to dry.
5. Burn the image into the screen. – Attach your prepared design to your screen and expose it on
the light to burn the image and let the design pass trough the screen and transfer to the material.
6. Rinse the screen. -After the emulsion has completely harden, take it to a running water. The
emulsion that was covered by the design flakes off as it touches the water.
7. Print. – Insert a cardboard in your materials like t-shirt. Pour some ink horizontally across the top
of the screen and use the squeegee to spread the ink by pulling down, press it against the screen
to let the ink pass through the holes of the mesh.

Activity 3
Choose the letter of the correct answer to complete the statement.
1. _______________ is the oldest form where an image is transferred from one surface to another.
a. Painting b. Drawing c. Printmaking
2. Screen frame commonly made of _____________ covered tightly with a mesh.
a. Wood b. Plastic c. Paper
3. ___________technique makes use of woven mesh to support an ink-blocking stencil.
a. Silkscreen printing b. Intaglio printing c. Photo emulsion printing
4. A tool that usually made of vinyl or rubber blade is called ________.
a. Mesh b. Squeegee c. Emulsion
Activity 4
Create a design promoting your province or an important event celebrated by your own

Environmental Sanitation
Environmental sanitation is a set of actions and solutions aimed at making
the community and the environment clean, healthy, and safe. It addresses the
community’s need for safe drinking water, proper waste disposal, solid waste
management, and pollution control including noise pollution management.
Managing environmental sanitation involves simple day-to-day activities and
efforts of each family at home as well as jointly with the rest of the community.
These include different processes and methods of cleaning, maintaining,
and sustaining the environment.
The following are some of the environmental sanitation management and
control methods applied around the world to save the environment and improve
over-all health status

Access to Safe Drinking Water

Water is a very important element in the preservation and protection of life.
A clean and safe drinking water supply for the community helps prevent the spread
of water-borne communicable diseases. In far-flung areas of the country that have not been
reached by sealed water pipelines, the most common source of drinking water are groundwater
and surface water. Groundwater is pumped using an artesian pump, collected in an open well, or
as spring water.
Surface water includes rivers and lakes. Both groundwater and surface
water can contain particles, dirt, and microorganisms that may harm and
weaken the body. Water collected from these sources need to undergo
proper treatment before it can be considered safe for drinking.
In many urban areas, water supply is filtered and treated with small
amount of disinfecting chemicals that kill microorganisms but are safe
for humans. Other proven ways of killing harmful microorganisms are
boiling water intended for drinking, or treating it with the right amount of
chlorine. Proper water storage and disposal of wastes are also factors in
avoiding contamination of water supply.
Air Pollution Control
Industrialization and economic boom have resulted to
air pollution with dangerous vapors and fumes from factories
and vehicles. The build-up of these chemicals in our atmos-
phere has increased the incidence of asthma, chronic
obstructive pulmonary disease, cancer, and other respiratory
and circulatory diseases. The most common sources of air
pollution in urban areas are burning of waste, electric or
telephone cables, and plastic.
Efforts have been made by different countries,
in partnership with non-governmental agencies and private
groups, to reduce and control air pollution. These include
reducing operation hours of coal-powered plants, production
of vehicles with fuel-efficient engines that produce low emission gas
fumes, production of electric-powered modes of mass transportations,
and reforestation projects and programs around the world.
