Since I am kid I had always seek for more. My ambition could had taken me to the worst path but
fortunately I had a family that taught me values to be a good person. Now I know my ambition can be
focused to good purposes. The reasons why I want to apply to this program are:
1- To grow as a better professional and use the knowledge, I learned from this experience, to develop
my country economy and society. My country has a lot of room for innovation and it is full of
resources to exploit. I want to be part of the engine that moves Nicaragua to a brighter future.
2- I come from a small town in the south of Nicaragua. Most of its people are talented but they lack of
motivation to exploit it. I want to show them that a guy from a small city after hard work and
motivation can succeed and encouraged future generations to do the same. I think that would be the
most precious legacy for me to others.
3- I want to know more about Korea. I had been always attracted to this country, rich of history,
culture, lands and people.
I studied a major in industrial engineering, that major set in my mind the concept of continuous
improvement process to industries. I like the idea so much that I also apply this philosophy in my life.
Always trying to be a better professional and person. I like this career because its principal concept is do
more with less, improvement in other words and it is always open for new challenges.
In my work experience I have been in many different areas of a business. I consider this helps to have a
better understanding of how business works. I have been analyzing data to make relevant charts and
graphs that helped the decision making in the company. I also have been in customer service doing
technical support to customer around North and Latin America that helped me to develop my
communications skills and understanding that happy customer is vital for any business. I have been
working supervising ongoing projects to make sure they were finished on time and meeting our customer
expectations, this help me to develop my ability to manage people, resources and being ready for any
setback. Finally I started my own digital marketing agency with my brother to sell and manage online
marketing manage plan to help customers in Central America. We help them, managing digital marketing
accounts on Facebook and Google for their brands to be online. I still want to study more and work in
more different areas to have a wide vision of how business works and help me to manage future projects.
As I mentioned before I had always been interested in this country due to its rich culture, history, lands and
people. Learn about the old history of this country and living its present is going to feed my know
perspective of the world.
Korea is well known for its wealthy economy, one of the largest in Asia and in the world. Not to mention the
country was one poorest countries on the past and now one of the richest. This successful change is
something to admire and learn about. This was achieved in part by the Korea education system and everyone
wants to receive a part of this quality education and take it back to their own country. That’s why having this
4
amazing opportunity in front of me and not try it would be my biggest regret.
Korea is also home of successful high-tech industries that are part of the developed economy of the country.
In this industries there is so much to learn and yet too much room for improvement and innovation that being
part of that is an infinity source of knowledge and opportunities to grow.
Another reason is because I also want to make a network of friends, allies or partner for future projects. Is
always good to have valuable partners in all the word and also having people with different points of view to
complement one’s perspective.
o Any other aspects of your background and interests which may help us evaluate your aptitude and passion
for graduate study or research.
Leadership
Leadership for me has been something I found fascinating, I want to discover all the secrets and skills
required to the success in this task. That is the reason that every time I have the opportunity in my life to
lead, I take it and try to perform my 120% on it. That has been the case in two scenarios:
1- In 2015 we had to face a big challenge for our University major program: the UAM program to
developing entrepreneurs. This is a class with the goal of creating the entrepreneur spirit in their
students. It consists of groups of students that must build an innovated idea, develop a business plan,
get sponsorship and present the business plan in a fair full of people and judges. The entire fair is an
incredible event that becomes the house of new ideas. I worked with a group of 5 engineers and I
was the leader in a difficult environment because all of them had very good ideas and they wanted to
support their own. I can say I was in a group of 5 leaders. I knew we all had skills that could help us
develop our project. By listening to them and sharing our ideas, we were able to work together in a
good harmony, using everyone talents and presenting one of the most creative projects of the fair.
We built a system to cool up the houses in summer for Nicaraguans that they could purchase for a
low cost. We called it “Ice and Air” resulting in one of my biggest learning in people management
skills so far.
2- I also have a passion for table tennis, I have been practicing it since 2013. I wanted to use my skills
to help to develop the sport in my country. In Nicaragua, the most popular sports are boxing and
baseball, so table tennis is not that popular and does not have many resources. I started playing in the
department of Carazo in a professional league two years ago, there is a place to play called Club
Rekord founded by Kjell Karlsson. Now I am part of the club’s advisory council and I support them
to make decisions that influence the development of the sport in Carazo. In the future, I want to
create my own club and help develop the sport in my own city, Rivas.
As I mentioned before table tennis is one of my passions, this sport has help me to develop my network of
friends around the world, my physical and my spiritual capabilities. I have played it for 5 years, always
trying to improve and perform better. This sport has awaken in me a fighting spirit because during a match
no matter how talented my rival is, I will never give up. I have been participating in different tournaments
around my region and I am always looking for more opportunities. I will be playing this sport until my
death.
This fighting spirit has helped me in my life and showed me whenever the challenge looks bigger, the award
at the end is greater. A good example was my thesis, many friends advised me not to take it because it was
the hardest way to graduate. I found in it a challenge to prove myself I was worthy of my certificate. I took
the challenge and thanks good I ended with the second best grade in all the thesis defenses that year.

This form is required for applicants in the Master’s or Doctoral program ONLY.
Please type in Korean or in English. The statement of purpose must be single spaced with no more than
TWO pages, with the font Times New Roman, size 11. (*11 points)
I have two interest in my professional career if I have the opportunity to study business administration, I would
like to focus in the work environment in successful business. I have the theory that in Nicaragua one of the
reasons why our workforce don’t use their talents correctly is because we lack of a friendly and challenging
work environment in the majority of our business. We are used to the concept of a boss instead of leaders, I
would like to study our actual environment and the impact of leaders in the work environment.
If by the other side I have the opportunity to study Industrial Engineering, I would like to collect knowledge to
make an investigation in of our sugar cane industries in Nicaragua. To produce energy, this industry burn the
waste generated from the milled of sugarcane. This waste is wet so when it is burned to heat the boiler it require
more energy to burn, at the same time because it is wet it produce more steam. I have the idea that if you put a
preheater before the wastes go to heat the boiler, it is going to be easier to burn it and will save money for the
sugarmill.
Future Plan
o Future plan in Korea or another country after study in Korea
after Study
My goal after finishing my master in Korea is going back to my country, work some years in a big company or
as a consultant to gather more experience. At the same time I will be running some side projects and whenever I
have a successful one I will dedicate all my time to it.
My goal is to successfully develop a network of my own businesses, contribute to the grow of my country, give
my people work opportunities and inspire them to fight for their own success.
I also want to teach at least one class in any university of my country to share my knowledge to the future
generations and encourage them to fly high.
