Asphalt Plant Calibration Instructions

The purpose of the Asphalt Plant Calibration is to verify the accuracy of +/- 1
percent for the asphalt pump and scales.

1. Prior to plant start up on the first day of production, determine the quantity
of gallons with the assistance of the plant operator. Calculations in the "Begin
Column".

2. When approximately 1,000 tons of mixture has been produced the asphalt
volume used must be determined. This can be done by shutting down the plant
and sticking the asphalt tank, reading the certified scale weights, including any
additional asphalt hauled in, verifying any weight in the silo and verifying the
weights on the recordation print out. It will be beneficial to time the plant
shutdown with the recordation print out. The decision to shut the plant down
during the calibration process is that of the producer. If the pump calibration or
the scale calibrations fail to meet the requirements, production will be halted
until the calibration requirements are met as detailed in the specifications. The
accuracy of the belt scale calibration is dependant on the accuracy of the
moisture contents of the stockpiles.
