TUGAS I – ELEKTRONIKA DAYA

(Instantaneous and Average Power, Nonsinusoidal Waveforms)

1. The voltage and current for a device (using the passive sign convention) are periodic
functions with T = 20 ms described by

Determine (a) the instantaneous power, (b) the average power, and (c) the energy
absorbed by the device in each period.
2. Determine the effective (rms) value of v(t) = 10 + 5 sin (ω1t + 30) + 6 sin (ω2t + 75)
for
(a) ω2 = 2ω1 and (b) ω2=ω1.
3. An electrical resistance space heater rated at 2000 W for a voltage source of v(t) = 100
√ 2 sin(2π80t) V has a thermostatically controlled switch. The heater periodically
switches on for 7 min and off for 9 min. Determine (a) the maximum in stantaneous
power, (b) the average power over the 16-min cycle, and (c) the electric energy converted
to heat in each 16-min cycle.
4. A nonsinusoidal periodic voltage has a fourier series of v(t)=6 + 5cos(3π60t) + 3
cos(6π60t). This voltage is connected to a load that is 16 ohm resistor in series with a 25
mH inductor as in figure below. Determine the power absorbed by the load (P,Q and S).
