CONCLUSION:

The inside diameter of pipe to be used is 15mm. If PPR Pipes is used, PN10 with diameter of 20mm will
satisfy the requirements. THEREFORE, use 20mm diameter PN10 PPR for each branch and riser.

Preliminary Information
Average Pressure of water main – 345 KPa (50PSI)
Total Fixture load – 27 wsfu
Estimated water demand – 1.3 L/s
Type of topmost fixture – 4m
Length of piping – 20.5 m
Fixture Pressure requirement at topmost fixture (Pfixture) – 104 KPa

C.

Static head (Pstatic)

Pstatic = 9.79 KPa/m (height of uppermost fixture)
Pstatic = 9.79 KPa/m (4m)
Pstatic = 39.16 KPa

D.

Pressure loss in water meter (Pwmeter)

The flow/water demand = 1.3 L/s
Assume size of water meter = 20mm
Pwmeter = 55.10 KPa

E.

Pressure Available for friction loss in the supply pipe

Pa = Pave – (Pfix + Pstatic + Pwmeter)

Pa = 345KPa – (104KPa + 39.16KPa + 55.10KPa)
Pa = 146 .74KPa

G.

Average permissible friction loss per 100m length of pipe (P 100)

P100 = (Pa/TEL) 100

P100 = (146.74 / 28.42) 100
P100 = 516.29 KPa

H.

Estimated water demand = 1.3 L/s

Use 25mm

P100 = 516.29

Inside diameter to be used is 25 mm

therefore use 32 mm diameter PN10 PPR Pipe for the building supply or service pipe.
