ACTIVITIES:
Instruction. Answer the following guide questions below based on your understanding. Your
answer must be precise with a minimum of 5 sentences and maximum of 10 sentences.

1. What is Number Theory?

Number theory is a branch of pure mathematics devoted to the study of the natural numbers
and the integers. It is the study of the set of positive whole numbers which are usually called
the set of natural numbers. As it holds the foundational place in the discipline, Number theory
is also called "The Queen of Mathematics".
2. What is Divisibility?
Divisibility means that a number goes evenly (with no remainder) into a number.

3. What is Modular Arithmetic?

In mathematics, modular arithmetic is a system of arithmetic for integers, where numbers
"wrap around" when reaching a certain value, called the modulus. The modern approach
to modular arithmetic was developed by Carl Friedrich Gauss

4. What is a Prime?
A prime number (or a prime) is a natural number greater than 1 that is not a product of two
smaller natural numbers. A natural number greater than 1 that is not prime is called a composite
number. For example, 5 is prime because the only ways of writing it as a product, 1 × 5 or 5 ×
1, involve 5 itself. However, 4 is composite because it is a product (2 × 2) in which both numbers
are smaller than 4. Primes are central in number theory because of the fundamental theorem
of arithmetic: every natural number greater than 1 is either a prime itself or can be factorized as
a product of primes that is unique up to their order.
5. What is Algorithm?
An algorithm in mathematics is a procedure, a description of a set of steps that can be used
to solve a mathematical computation: but they are much more common than that today.
Algorithms are used in many branches of science (and everyday life for that matter), but
perhaps the most common example is that step-by-step procedure used in long division.
