implemented in this lesson NOR.
Specific vocabulary:
Logic gate, Boolean algebra, laws, circuit, truth table.
Objective of the lesson :
At the end of this lesson, a student should be able to:
 Simplify Boolean expressions using laws of Boolean algebra.
 Simplify Boolean expressions using the Morgan’s theorems.
 Construct truth tables of simplified Boolean expressions.
 Construct logic circuits of simplified Boolean expressions.
Targeted Competences
 Use Boolean identities and De Morgan’s laws to manipulate and simplify simple Boolean
expressions.

Teaching aids :
 Chalkboard, chalk, duster, Chalkboard ruler, pen, lesson plan, Notebook.
Teaching approaches:
Real life situation, discovery and Inquiry

Prerequisite :
Students should have previously knowledge on:

1/6
 What is a logic gate?
 Basic logic gate diagrams (AND, OR, NOT, NAND, NOR and XOR).
 What is a truth table?
 How to construct the truth tables of the six basic logic gates.

Problem/Case/Situation
The first computer ENIAC was as big as a room and now the size of a computer has reduced to
that of a grain of rice. This is thanks to the simplification of the logic circuit of some components
like transistors. Give examples of some components that were at first large and are now reduced
to smaller forms.
Orientation Questions/Directives
Problem Situation

a) Case 1: Like a computer, other electronic devices were also reduced? Give examples.
b) Case 2: There are some advantages and disadvantages when the sizes of electronic devices are
reduces. What are these advantages and disadvantages?
Expected answers/ Possible Responses
a) Case 1: A calculator, a monitor, a printer etc.
b) Case 2:
Advantages: Easily portable or easy to carry on, battery last longer, occupies less space
etc
Disadvantages: Small screen (difficult for people with eye problem), low storage capacity,
small keyboards, OS with fewer features,
