A cultural center is an organization, building or complex that promotes culture and arts.
Cultural centers can be neighborhood community arts organizations, private facilities,
government-sponsored.

Purpose : Content of a Cultural Center The objective of a cultural center is to

promote cultural values among the members of its community.

These may include art shows, stage performances, exhibits and festivals.

JUSTIFICATION FOR THE PROJECT:

Purpose : As madikeri is rich in its own culture and tradition, it is important to foster
it. Assist the town to cater during dasara. And it is a necessity to establish a cultural
centre

It is a corner site which can be accessed

through the Mahadevpet main road on one
side and other connecting road i.e,
Kanakadasa road on the another side.
In the vicinity of the site there are lot
restaurants and hotels, a school, few
masjid’s, banks, etc..

of land located nearby to the heart of the city.
High commercial activities nearby the site. If
extended site gets access to another entry.
● Weakness- Slightly apart from the city centre,
site is narrow, traffic congestion as the
accessible road is one of the prominent main
road of the city.
● opportunities: sited in a commercial
surrounding(micro context) which aids the
project
● Constraints : More of residential buildings
(macro context – 250m radius) which might get
affected/ disturbed by the proposed project.
