ARGUMENTATIVE ESSAY
Introduction :
The world was in an uproar with a new virus called covid-19. This virus has
succeeded in paralyzing almost all countries. Several countries decided to lockdown
in order to stop the chain of spreading this virus. One of the countries implementing
the lockdown is Saudi Arabia. In an effort to overcome this corona virus outbreak, the
Saudi Arabian government officially implements a full lockdown rule in Mecca and
Medina. This effort was continued with the existence of regulations to stop
international flight activities and not allow Umrah and Hajj pilgrimage activities
during the implementation of the lockdown.
Opposing argument :
However, with the lockdown in Saudi Arabia and the prohibition on performing
the Umrah and Hajj pilgrimages, it has an impact on prospective congregations and
also business owners in Saudi Arabia. Prospective pilgrims are forced to postpone
their travel to Mecca and Medina to worship due to the temporary closure. They have
to wait until an uncertain time and feel sad because their worship activities are
hampered. Some of the congregation also argued that this closure should not be
enforced. Given that the fate of someone's death is in the hands of God. Because
worship is also an important thing to do and it is not good to postpone it. In addition,
there are several business sectors that are also affected by this closure policy. Some of
the business sectors include hotels, airlines, travel agents, catering and transportation.
Conclusion :
The lockdown and closure in Makkah and Madinah brought advantages and
disadvantages. The public must be aware of the importance of this closure for the
safety of many people. In addition, this policy can help shorten the duration of this
pandemic. Worship activities are important, but the safety of many people is equally
important. The government has tried to handle this outbreak as best as possible. This
requires cooperation from the community. The community can carry out worship
activities from home for a while until this pandemic is over. The business sector must
also immediately find solutions to minimize losses, such as discounting orders for the
month or year thereafter.
