in mosques for areas with the potential for high-risk Corona transmission. This is with
consideration because it involves many people so that the potential for mass transmission of
the virus is higher. In addition, public recitations, tabliqh akbar, tahlilan, and religious
lectures
are also prohibited from being held in mosques/musholla because they also have the
potential to increase the transmission of this virus.

order to survive by making peace with the Covid-19 virus as an effort to adapt to the
conditions that occur. New normal is an effort towards a new phase of habitual order, in all
aspects of life, including religious life. Moslems are allowed to pray together in mosques

A. Community Prayer Activities During the Pandemic.
Prayer activities during the covid-19 pandemic were eliminated for the benefit
of all, remembering that the spread of this virus is through open air and spreads
quickly when people gather in close proximity. Humans have suffered severe
losses in various aspects due to the pandemic, such as losses in the economy,
society, and education. The scope of education itself includes mass interaction
activities that require many people.
Lecture activities were allocated following the Government's direction and
recommendations so that teaching activity continued from their respective

homes, through self-quarantine, and the learning system became online. Other
religious activities are also temporarily suspended until the pandemic is reduced.
Such is the religious activities of Lambung Mangkurat University students during
the pandemic.

B. Community Prayer Activities After the Pandemic.

The coronavirus, which cannot be predicted when it will end, makes the
government creates policies so that people can do normal activities again in
several aspects of life, one of which is in the aspect of religious life. The
government made a policy known as New Normal.
New normal is implemented as an effort to be ready to do the best possible
activities outside the home in order to adapt to new changes. This lifestyle
change is accompanied by health protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
In the new-normal, several rules are applied before entering into a post-
pandemic that is truly loose. People are encouraged to act in accordance with
health protocols such as social distancing, wearing masks, avoiding crowds,
washing hands frequently, and getting used to implementing health protocols in
the mosque environment.
Strict regulations are imposed. It is done to create a sense of security for the
people who still want to pray in community prayer at the mosque. There are
certain limits to the system of prayer activities, for example in areas with red or
orange zones it is not recommended to pray at the mosque and for yellow or
green zones it is given tolerance to be able to pray at the mosque but on
condition that they continue to apply health
Protocols such as wearing masks, maintaining a 1.5-meter prayer
distance/shaf, and using hand sanitizers before or after entering the mosque. But
now finally everything can return to normal without being restricted in
community prayer at the mosque.
But over time, the pandemic began to loosen up and the rules of community
prayer at the mosque returned as before, like close-range shaf. The use of
masks, it is more personal, whether you want to use it or not.
From the observations we made and also the interviews we got, post-pandemic
religious activities of Lambung Mangkurat University students began to clean up
and restart their activities.

2. The Impact of the Covid-19 Pandemic

The COVID-19 pandemic affects not only public health, but also the economy,
education, and social life of the Indonesian people. Based on data from the
National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), the number of COVID-19 patients
in Indonesia reached 6,575 per 19 April 2020. This pandemic had prompted
several regional governments to implement of the Pembatasan Sosial Berskala
Besar (PSBB) policy which limits public activities, including economic and
educational activities, and other social activities.
The restriction of these activities affects the socioeconomic conditions of the
communities, especially the poor and vulnerable. Therefore, the central and
regional governments have issued various policies to tackle the spread of COVID-
19 and mitigate the socioeconomic impacts of the pandemic. Nevertheless, the
implementation of these policies must be monitored and evaluated to examine
their effectiveness.

A. The Impact of the Covid-19 Pandemic on Community Prayer Activities.

The Covid-19 pandemic doesn't only affect the economic sector but also
affects the social and religious sectors of life. In the sector of religious life that
involves prayer, the pandemic has been able to change the pattern of prayer
practices. In Indonesia, this policy to limit prayer was issued by the Indonesian
Ulema Council together with the Ministry of Religion at the MUI Fatwa No. 14 of
2020.
This was done to reduce the spread of Covid-19 in places of prayer, especially
mosques. The outbreak of the Covid-19 virus has had an impact on activities in
mosques, one of which is community prayer. In disaster fiqh, disaster is a
manifestation of Allah's love for his servants. Various kinds of events that befall
humans are a test and trials of faith and behavior that have been carried out by
humans (Muhammadiyah, 2018).
The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on community prayer activities can be
seen clearly from the decrease in the number of worshipers. Some mosques also
have to eliminate and postpone other activities. However, this is a positive
impact of the pandemic because the ban on community prayers in mosques
causes Muslims to pray at home. This situation can strengthen the relationship
between family members.
In addition, Muslims are also educated to invite and guide family members to
pray together both in calm conditions and in times of disaster. Disasters also
bring people to understand and deepen legal methods or Islamic jurisprudence
as well as fatwas in matters relating to public health and harm to Muslims.
Therefore, Muslims also learn many new experiences in performing prayer such
as Eid al-Fitr circumcision prayers in the community at home.

B. The Impact of Covid-19 on The Prayer Activities of Lambung Mangkurat

University Student

Based on the survey results, it turns out that there are many impacts of
Covid-19 on daily prayer activities at the Lambung Mangkurat University Mosque.
The first and most significant impact of Covid-19 on prayer activities in mosques
is that the attendance of worshipers at the mosque is reduced due to regulations
set by local administrators. The second impact of Covid-19 on prayer activities is
the reduction in religious activities, especially during the month of Ramadan.
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, there were recitation activities or religious
lectures at the mosque both during the day and at night which were regularly
scheduled, but after the pandemic religious activities were prohibited in the
mosque and the result was the loss of a source of knowledge for the community.
In addition, the obstacles to pray that cannot be done in mosques during this
epidemic are obstacles such as community prayers, religious activities, and so
on.
Although the number of worshipers is reduced, Friday prayers and obligatory
prayers are still carried out but are limited following those ordered by the
government and local administrators. With the outbreak of this pandemic, many
worshipers feel sad because they cannot carry out prayer activities at the
mosque. Although the purpose of going to the mosque is to pray in
congregation, if circumstances do not allow it, then it is more important to pray
at home.

C. The Difference in The Implementation of Community Prayers After the Pandemic.

Based on the survey results, the majority of respondents stated that
community prayer activities are slowly returning to their original state before the
pandemic. When a pandemic occurs, several rules must be adhered to, such as
rows that are arranged at a distance and it is advisable to wear a mask during
prayer. However, after the pandemic, Moslem ummah were able to return to
close the rows so that the mosque could accommodate more worshipers and
shake hands with other worshipers. In addition, the interest of the community to
carry out religious activities at the mosque also increased during the post-
pandemic because public concerns about Covid-19 had decreased.

3. The Decrease and Increase in the Community’s Interest in Praying in Community

Along with the Causative Factors

A. Decrease in the Number of Community Prayers During the Covid-19 Pandemic

The most significant impact of Covid-19 on community prayer activities is the
decrease in worshipers who participate in community prayer activities at the
mosque because of the regulations set by the government during the Movement
Control Order (PKP), only 10 people were allowed to pray five times, namely
committee members only and Friday prayers were only 50 people allowed. It was
also restricted to the elderly aged 70 and over and children aged 12 and under
were not allowed to attend the mosque.
Although the number of worshipers is reduced, Friday prayers and obligatory
prayers are still carried out but are limited in accordance with what is ordered by
the government. With the outbreak of this pandemic, many worshipers feel sad
because they cannot perform prayer activities at the mosque. Although the
purpose of going to the mosque is to perform community prayers, if the situation
does not allow it, then it is better to pray at home. The people who often go to
the mosque to pray in the community, suddenly there is a Covid-19 pandemic,
and the community cannot go to the mosque because the government does not
allow it.
The implementation of Friday and community prayers during the Covid 19
pandemic was carried out while still paying attention to health protocols. Such as
stretching the prayer shaft and using a mask during prayer. The Mosque
Prosperity Council and the community must work together to maintain the rules.
The closure of community activities in several mosques/mushalla aims to
avoid the transmission of the coronavirus which allows Muslims to gather in large
numbers, so it is expected to increase the spread of the virus.

B. Increase in the Number of Worshipers After the Covid-19 Pandemic

The new normal is an effort towards a new normal phase, in all aspects of life,
including religious life, Muslims are allowed to pray together in houses of worship
on condition that they implement health protocols that refer to the Minister of
Religion Circular Letter Number 15/2020. The implementation of a new normal in
the aspect of Muslim religious life is marked by the reopening of the mosque so
that worshipers can perform mandatory prayers and Friday prayers and other
worship in the community, by complying with health protocols. This of course
has a significant impact on the increase in the number of worshipers who attend
community prayers at the mosque.

Conclusion
The occurrence of the Covid-19 pandemic has an impact on all aspects of the existing
field, including religion, one of which is congregational prayer. When the pandemic was
still ongoing, the imposition of social restrictions prohibiting congregational prayers in
mosques had an effect on the decline in the number of worshipers, to reduce the chain
of the spread of Covid-19. But over time, the pandemic began to loosen and the rules
for congregational prayers in the mosque returned to before because the current
situation was deemed safe to perform congregational prayers in the mosque, so
congregational prayers began to be implemented again without any distance separating
the congregation and the use of masks during prayer. And there has been an increase in
the number of worshipers who attend congregational prayers after the pandemic.
