What it takes to work as a Team

A talk show spoof By Niome Hernandez

The beginning should start with a voice calling out *(wm) – ladies
and gentlemen – children of all ages – it’s the Nikki Fake show –
please give it up for our host Nikki Fake!!!

*(wm – means with music we had theme show music)

N: Hello everyone – Welcome to the Nikki Fake show – I’m your host
Nikki Fake! (cont. below)

For today’s show – we have four great guests – all of whom play
sports and are at the top of their game!! Today you have to pick out of
the four who knows what it is to play as a team? That’s today’s topic?

Our first guest prides himself as being a great baseball player – please
give it up for Mr. Baseball!!!!! *(sm – let play for a few seconds –
and then stop)

*(sm – means we played baseball theme music and the puppet would
dance it out and then we would cut it)

N: how are you Mr. Baseball?

Mb: I’am doing great I was just practicing my swing

N: I hear that you’re a good baseball player

Mb: Nikki I’m not good, I’m great get it right! I run, I work out I do all
kind of exercise activities to keep myself in shape.

N: how do your teammates feel about you and your work ethic?

Mb: I don’t have the time to worry about the team and what they
think I only have time to think of myself – my pitching, my hitting,
my scores I only worry about myself.!

N: I thought there was a saying that said there was no I in the word
team? Thanks Mr. Baseball will see you a little later – our next
guest loves cheerleading – she’s one of the best and has won many
competitions – let’s hear it for Tina (sm – let play a few seconds
then stop)
N: Hi Tina

T: Hi Nikki – its really g-o-o-d (says cheer) good to be here today!

N: Well you know today’s theme is about working as a team?

T: Team – forget the team – I practice all my routines all by myself

there’s not enough mirrors at school for me to practice.

N: But what about the other people on the team don’t you want to
work together?

T: No because I want to be the one that everyone looks at – to me

that’s all that matters.

N: I though cheerleading teams worked together I never met a solo

cheerleader? Hmm audience its make you wonder? – well will see
you later Tina. Our next guest plays great football let’s give it for
Mr. Wide receiver!! (sm – let play a few seconds – then stop)

N: Hello Mr. Wide receiver – how are you today?

W: I’m blessed and happy to be here

N: Today’s show is about working as a team

W: That’s a great topic I think it’s the most important topic ever

N: Tell me how do you work as a team?

W: The guys on my team know that we need each other to win – we

have to look out for one another the quarter back needs the
offensive line to protect him and the running back needs his wide
receiver, if we didn’t work as a team we wouldn’t win.

N: what do you do before each game?

W. I always start the game with a prayer this is what I say “Lord help
us to play the game in a way that will bring honor to you, help us
to remember that victory comes from you and not from ourselves”
Amen

N: That’s a great way to start any game – well see you later Mr. Wide
 receiver our next guest is a great tennis player let’s give it for
Star Williams!! (sm – let play a few seconds and then stop)

N: Hello Star

S: Hello Nikki

N: So tell us how does it feel to be a great tennis star?

S: I love it I can basically do what I want when I want

N: Today’s topic is about working as a team

S: I hate to say this but I don’t enjoy working as a team my trainers

are to hard on me – they want me to train and exercise all the time

N: I think that training is a good thing so that you’re in top shape

S: My shape is already great

N: So tell me what happened at the French open? You looked tired

S: I lost and I lost the quarterfinals, my trainer wanted me to practice

but I thought it would be better to go shopping

N: Do you think maybe, just maybe, you’ve been losing because your
not working a team with your trainers?

S: I’m losing because they put to much pressure on me I have to go

out there and do all the work – that’s not so easy

N: I think if you listened to your trainers and worked as a team you

would start to win

S: It’s not my fault, the fault belongs to the trainers it’s their fault
that I lose. How could you blame me?

N: I think the fault lies with the person who only thinks about
themselves and not the team sorry Star, will see you later everyone
say bye Star

N: (Speaking to the audience) Ok guys now is the time where you pick
the guest who showed us how we can work as a team – are you
ready to bring back our guests – please give it up for our guests!!
(play music and then after a few seconds stop) All four puppets
come back up dancing and looking at the audience.

N: Now by round of applause – who do you think showed us how to

play as a team?

N: Was it Mr. Baseball – Tina the cheerleader – Mr. Wide receiver – or

Star Williams the tennis star?

N: The winner is Mr. Wide receiver!! – (play some music) So how

does it feel to know that working, as a team should be a team?
effort.?

W: It feels great, the bible teaches that we all need each other and
working as a team will help us reach our goals.

N: Do you mind saying one of your prayers for our audience today?

W: My prayer would be this “Lord help us to play the game of

life in such a way as to bring you honor and glory and that in
you we will always be victorious and for each one of us to
always play as a team.” amen

N: I want to thank all my guests for coming on the show and

The end

This skit we used for an outreach in a park for young children and a
few youth. We had a sound system and for each guest we played
music and for Nikki we also used game show theme music.

We had a lot of fun because Nikki Fake is a person who interacts with
the puppets and she’s supposed to be a talk show host and when her
music comes on she comes out dancing and acting silly. The children
always get a kick out of Nikki Fake.
