1 Always rough out the stock at slow speed. Remove square corners on the bandsaw
2 No spectators
3 As the wood's diameter decreases, move the tool rest closer to the work
5 Never touch the work with your bare hands when it is in motion
7 Never wear loose clothing, jewelry, and/or long hair when turning
8 Always keep the tools sharp. When they become dull ask the instructor to sharpen them
10 Before turning on the machine, always spin the works by hand to make sure it clears the tool rest
11 Before turning on the lathe, make sure spindle turnings are secure between centers
12 When faceplate turning, periodically, check the screws to make sure they are secure
