THE CRUSADES

I am outside as I watch the competition for the holy land prevails. The Holy land has gone
through many arguments and fighting to control this land. Right now, the Europeans fighting to
claim the land. The Turks are the ones controlling it at the moment and making sure it stays
that way. The Europeans have something up their sleeve, they are planning to send and launch
a series of military expeditions, called the Crusades, to take back the Holy Land.

The Holy Land is the region in Southwest Asia that makes up of neighboring lands and modern
Israel. This land includes the city of Jerusalem, and is called sacred to Judaism, Christianity, and
Islam.

Christian pilgrims from Europe are always making the long dangerous journey to the holy land.
During their trip they visit places like the church of the Holy Sepulcher. But suddenly, the Seljuk
Turks have taken over the Holy Land. The Seljuk Turks closed the pilgrimage routes and
attacked Christian pilgrims.

Pope urban the head of the catholic church called the council of Clermont for a meeting. At the
meeting he spoke and gave a speech where he stated that her wants to challenge the lords of
Europe to combine together their forces to re-conquer the holy land from the Muslims who
recently took over it.

The Muslim empire that had taken over the holy land were the Selijuk Turks. The Turks are
coming from Central Asia so they can take over the lands claimed by Persians, Arabs, and
Byzantines. The Selijuk Turks are very power and that’s why they have their own Muslim
empire.

The French monk perter the hermit brought together an unorganized army of servant and army
soldiers. As a group they charged in toward Constantinople and we have now called it the
People Crusade. Sadly, the crusade didn’t end up as planned and most of the troupes were
slaughtered by the Turkish soldier.

There is argument whether or not this crusade genuinely occurred. But the children’s crusade
debuted after the fourth crusade. Supposedly the crusade wasn’t led by a pope or any
European ruler but by two adolescents’ kids organized to set expedition to the holy land. These
kids were Nicholas of cologne and Stephen of cloys. They believe they got a message from god
to keep the fighting and take back Jerusalem from the Christians.

The crusades really only happened because they wanted to rule over the holy land and take
back Jerusalem from the Christians but that not the only thing they impacted. There was a lot of
trial and error during the crusades but eventually they got what they wanted in the long run.
The crusades helped the construction of multiple European castles and mission and granted
more power for the churches.

Even though Europe lost the claim of the Holy Land, the Crusades contributed to Europe in a
numerus of types of ways. For example, the exchange that happened during the Crusades
impacted the roll out of Islamic math and science. This gave Europeans lot of information for
the improvements in navigation techniques.

There is one person who is an important source of information when it comes to the Crusades.
