Scrap heap magnet task

A scrap heap magnet is a type of electromagnet used in junkyards to move

cars and metal scrap. Its user can vary the strength of the magnet by
changing the strength of the electrical current, the stronger the electrical
current, the stronger the strength of the electromagnet. This apparatus is
mainly used in junkyards to move around the scrap and has a similar shape
to a crane. Here is a photo of one:

Like permanent magnets, electromagnets can move magnetic materials
like iron steel or other magnetic metals, objects like plastic or wood can’t be
moved by an electromagnet.

This is how an scrap heap magnet works:

On a soft heavy iron core thick insulated copper wire is wound. The
strength is varied by the force of the current and by the number of turns of
the coil. The reason why the wire is made out of copper is because copper
can withstand very strong currents and using it as a coil with many turns
around the iron core, it can create very strong magnetic fields; which can
pull massive amounts of metal. When the current passes around the copper
wire, the scrap heap magnet is ready to work.
