Communication In School and Community Operation
II. Rationale
Community Radio (CR) has been widely used across the world to bring about development and social change. The proposed project
will indeed a unique experiment in using media technologies, especially radio, for development and empowerment of
marginalized, rural communities as well as collaborating with the school community. Designed as a school community-driven project, it
takes on a special significance in communication of the school and the community for disaster risk reduction management as well as
school operation purposes. Sharing and exchanging information among the community is crucial during emergencies. To ensure clear
and effective communication during emergency, this project will take place and via mediums (e.g. email, radio, telephone, in person,
etc.) If radio communication will be used, school and community will designate the radio frequency in the preparedness plan. This way,
responding agencies will use the correct radio frequencies in the event of an emergency. The plan should also specify who will have
(and maintain) the equipment and who will have access to a radio.
General Objective
Specific Objectives
1. To provide the school proper communication with the community during emergencies
2. To implement disaster risk reduction management communication protocol
3. To designate authentic radio frequency for the school operation
4. To provide opportunities for school to have a close communication with the stakeholders
Expected Output
1. Increased level of communication with the community
2. Easier access for the school during emergencies
3. Advance information from the local disaster risk reduction management council
4. Radio communication apparatus will be used by the school
