(b) Calculate the production of a weaving mill in square meter considering the
parameter given below-

Part-C ( Knitting)
Answer any one questions:
1. (a)If the flat width of a Single Jersey fabric is 108 cm and Wales per cm is 28.
Calculate the cylinder diameter of the Single Jersey circular knitting machine having the
machine gauge 24.
(b Write the values of Kc, Kw and Ks in different states (SI unit).

2. It is required to knit a plain knit fabric to a finished weight of 150 g/sq-m and a
finished width of 160 cm on a 20 gauge machine with 30 inch diameter,96 feeders and 30
rpm speed .Assume the finished state constants Kc=5.5 and Kw=4.2
Calculate:
i)Optimum yarn Tex
ii) Optimum loop length
iii)Course length
iv)Run-in
v) Length shrinkage
vi)Width shrinkage

(b)If the tubular width of a single jersey fabric is 70 cm and Wales per cm is 28,
Calculate the needle pitch of the single jersey circular knitting machine if the cylinder
dia is 40 inch.
4. What is needle timing? Compare between synchronized timing and delayed timing
with figure.
5. What is purl fabric? Write the uses of purl fabric.
6. In a Single Jersey circular knitting machine, following parameters are given:
Gauge=2
Diameter=30 inch
Feeder=56
Stitch Length=3 mm
Yarn Count=30 Tex
Efficiency=90%
Machine RPM=32
Wastage=1.5%
Calculate the weight of yarn if the machine runs 20 hrs.
