1 Introduction
1.1 Declarations
The CE and UL declaration of conformity for the product will be fulfilled if the setup and
! cabling is undertaken in accordance with the specification in the manual and the docu-
mentation listed there, such as mounting instructions, cable lists etc. Where necessary,
project-specific documentation should be taken into account.
Deviations from the specifications or independent changes during setup, such as use of
cable types with lower screening values, for example, can lead to the CE requirements
being violatad. In such cases the CE declaration of conformity is invalidated and the
responsibility passes to the person who has caused the deviations.

For sites in very windy areas, e.g. hilly terrain, an optional baffle plate, located at the air
outlet of the fan, is available on request in order to prevent unintentional impact on the
thermal sensors of the BS82 due to strong reverse air blow.
Sites located close to excessive airborne dust clouds i.e. cement, coal deposits etc.
should also be minimised in order to avoid contamination of the cooling system and
increased maintenance.
The ambient temperature range is - 45˚C...+55˚C / -49˚F...131˚F.

To provide lightning protection level 3 (acc. ENV 61024-1: 1990-03) it is necessary to
observe special installation rules as follows:
Installation with master cabinet only:
– The AC supply line of the master cabinet has to include a separate ACPROTECT
device positioned as close as possible to the cabinet. The wiring (L1, N, PE) towards
the ACPROTECT must provide 16 mm2 cross-section. This line must be protected
by a fuse with 100 A breaking current maximum.
– Main cabinet and ACPROTECT must be grounded separately at the intended
connection points with an 16mm2 cross section cable minimum.
– All interface lines including the antenna cable must be grounded separately as close
as possible to the cabinet.

The 4 carrier master cabinet, which also contains the Core module (COBA) can be
further interconnected with an extension cabinet by a CCLink- connection and the CAN-
bus.
If no more than one DCU is needed in a cabinet, the second slot must be filled by a
i DCU-dummy without function, to guarantee the original airflow for sufficient convection
cooling of the modules ! This applies also to the BATTERY, TIF, OVPTM and COBA.
The base configuration of the BS82 contains further the power supply for 115 V AC
(ACPSC/U), 230 V AC (ACPSC) or -48 V DC (DCPSC), a backup battery in case of
AC power supply (backup time minimum 5 min), an optional antenna (INTENNA), the
fan and the heater unit.
The integrated climate control system of the BS82 guarantees proper outdoor operation
(temp. range: -45˚ C ... +55˚ C as per ETSI 4.1E).
The product has been evaluated for protection against water splashing the enclosure
from any direction and for ingress protection according to IP 54 (EN60529).

Make sure, that the mounting frame for the cabinet is fixed correctly at pole or wall
! before lift up.
Note the accident prevention regulations, when working with crane or other lifting aids !
If using of lifting aids generally is not possible, pay attention to the weight of the fully
equipped cabinet of approx. 70 kg (without ADD-ON modules).
In this case it is recommended to remove the Dual Carrier Units in steps as described
in section 2.11 of this document.
Weight exceeding 25 kg must be handled by two people!

. The following sections are intended to give information about the mounting variants.
The cabinets have to be mounted in an upright position. It has to be ensured that no hot
air (max. temperature 55˚C) can be sucked into the cabinet by the fan module and that
the airflow outlet is not blocked.
As a consequence, there have to be 20 cm space above and 50 cm below the cabinets.
Add-On-modules requires additional 10 cm per add-on on top of the BS82.
i Max. 5 Add-On-modules could be equipped.
In addition, there has to be 50 cm space to the right side of the cabinet to allow proper
access for service and maintenance activities as well as for sufficient air flow.
On the left side there has to be 5 cm space (compare with Fig. 2.7 ).

– Roll tool over buckle, backing off with tension handle throughout entire rolling oper-
ation. Failure to back off with tension handle throughout entire course of roll may
result in breaking of band. There is no loss of tension as band released is used up
in the bend.
– Pull cutting handle to cut the band and remove the extra length.
– Remove tool, holding stub of band down with thumb.
Hang up carefully the cabinet and secure it by the top screw of the mounting kit.

2.9.1 Overview
This chapter gives information required for installing the external cables between
the BS82 and equipment outside the cabinets, further about the connections between
the master cabinet and the extension cabinet.
The minimum requirements for external cables necessary for proper function and obser-
vance to the CE - regulations is shown in the table below.
All external cables including the extension cable and the potential balancing wire must
be fixed inside the cabinet by cable clamps. Usually, a cable clamp for cables with a
outer diameter of 6,5 mm will be used (Siemens serial no. C47195-Z 13-C 21).
Additional useful clamp types are shown in the table below.

For Abis cabling with 75 Ohm impedance use coaxial cable e.g. 2YCCY 0.4/2.6.
The coaxial cables will be prepared in accordance with Fig. 2.22 and Fig. 2.23
as follows:
– Cut back the outer insulation(length approx. 200 mm).
– Unbraid the main cable screen.
– Twist and tinn the screen wires and the additional wire.
– Insulate the screening with insulation sleeve.
– Fix an SMA-female connector for each PCM-up and down line at the end to be
connected to the OVPT.
– Connect the prepared cable to the matching connectors.

The A:TIFMW has to be mounted on the top of the master cabinet. The 10 wire ribbon-
cable has to be connected between A:TIFMW and the corresponding 10pin connector
on the core backplane.
The two powerlines MUE and PUE have to be connected either to the corresponding
clamps on ENVACON or directly on the 48V - EXT of the xPSC (see Fig. 2.17)
Pay attention to the polarity.
The SRA-L FOU cable for BS82 has to be stripped of the outer insulation identical to the
length of the BS82 connection-field to A:TIFMW plus 30 cm. The groundshielding has to
be stripped of leaving a rest of about 5 to 10 cm visible .
the ground shield has to be well connected to the ground connection at the PG-inlet.
After pulling the cable through the PG-inlet.
The powerlines -VBAT (MUE) and +VBAT (PUE), the alarm lines ALM1 and ALM2,and
the V-BUS line V-D-a and V-D-b always have to be connected to A:TIFMW.
Additionally the PCM lines which might be connected to another SRA-FOU device or are
not needed have to be connected to the A:TIFMW also.
These cables need to be routed through the flash-duct of the BS82.

The PCM lines which have to be connected to the Abis ports of the BS82 , and the
RS232 lines have to be connected to OVPTM. See below for more details.
The ALMBOX wire is not needed and can be cut off.
Pay attention that it can not cause any short circuits !
!
The cable and the plug with its corresponding color coding are shown in the following
figure and table.
The TX wires of the SRA-L cable have the meaning of transmitting to the SRA-L device.
On the BTSE side this is equivalent to the UL connectors on the OVPTM.

Using only one SRA-L usually requires only two PCM lines being connected to OVPTM
PCM port 1 and 2. They are located on terminal block 3 and 2 as shown in Fig. 2.20 and
Tab. 2.5 and Tab. 2.6.
Also the RS-232 lines need to be connected to the corresponding clamps on the
terminal block 3.
