Vocabulary

1. Integrity: The quality of being honest and having strong moral principles; moral uprightness,
doing the right thing even when no one is watching.
The man showed integrity when he gave back the money he found on the floor.

2. Evolve -develop gradually, especially from a simple to more complex form.

People's muscles evolve slowly when they exercise for at least an hour.

3. Complex - consisting of many different and connected parts.Complicated, intricate, and

difficult.
While listening to my teacher on how to do the work, I thought to myself that the work was very
complex.

4. Hydro = Water H20

I was drinking hydro in the locker room because today P.E we had to run.

5.Hydrate = A compound, typically a crystalline one, in which water molecules are chemically
bound to another compound or element.
I was very thirsty so I drank hydrate water from the water bottle.

6. Hydrated = having absorbed enough water or other liquid.

I was much hydrated after drinking the water from the water fountain.

7. Dehydration = Not having absorbed enough water or other liquid.

I was dehydrated after having to run in P.E.

8. Systematic Racism = Also known as institutional racism, is a form of racism that is embedded
as normal practice within society or an organization. I can lead to such issues as discrimination
in criminal justice, employment, housing health care, political power, and education, among
other issues.
There was a lot of systemic racism, which led to the civil rights movement.

9. Caucasian = White skin, of European origin.

I saw a Caucasian man in the store while shopping.

10. Resume = A formal document that a job applicant creates to itemize his or her qualifications
for a position/job.
My dad had to fill out a resume to get the job he has now.

11. Prevail = Prove more powerful than opposing forces; be victorious.

The guy in the movie prevailed after fighting in the tournament.

12. Humble = Having or showing a modest or low estimate of one's own importance.
The guy was very humble while talking to his superior.

13. Ambiguous = Unclear or inexact because choices between alternatives have not been
made.
The man was very ambiguous while telling me how to help him.

14. Feeble = Lacking physical strength, especially as a result of age or illness.

My friend was very feeble because every time he ran he would vomit.

15. Array = an impressive display or range of a particular type of thing.

The array around the painting was very helpful in not letting the people touch the painting.

16. Democracy = A system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of
a state, typically through elected representatives. Controlled by the majority of its members.
freedom.
We live in a state that has democracy.

17. Rem Sleep = Rapid eye movement. It normally happens 90 minutes after you fall asleep. It
can last from 10 minutes to 1 hour. The brain is more active. It provides energy to your brain
and restores your mind. Essential for muscle recovery and restoring the body. The bloody
supply to the muscle increases, more oxygen and nutrients go to the muscle which facilities
muscle healing and growth.
I have probably had REM sleep just not noticed.

18. Empathy = The ability to understand and share the feelings of another.
People have to have empathy, if they don’t they can hurt the people around them.

19. Docile = Ready to accept control or instructions; submissive.

The leader was very docile while giving orders.
