Activity: Skimming Drill!
1) Let the students review their notes about the eight parts of the
speech.
2) After a minutes, let the students keep all their notes.
c) Analysis
After the activity, ask the following questions to the students:
1) What are the eight parts of the speech you could recall so far?
2) Can you identify the parts of the speech of a word used in a
sentence?
d) Abstraction
o Words are class into eight categories according to their uses in a
sentence.
o Noun-name of a person, animal, thing, place, idea, activity
o Pronoun- alternate name for a noun.
o Adjective- modifies a noun or a pronoun
o Verb –expresses actions or existence
o Adverb- modifies a verb, adverb, or adjectives
o Conjunction- connects words, phrases, or clauses
o Preposition- precedes phrase that acts as modifier or noun
o Interjection- expresses emotion
