A. Drill
I have here a set of flashcards, as I flash each card raise your green flag if it is a word and red flag if it is a
phrase.

Identify the following statements as fact or opinion.

How do you take care of them?

C. Presentation of the Lesson


I ask you those questions because it is related to the selection that we are going to read.
But before we read the selection let us remind ourselves about the standard for reading.

There are some questions that you are going to answer while reading the selection.

Reading of Guide Questions

1. Who owns a pet?

2. What kind of pet is Charchar?

3. What are the activities they do together?


4. Where are they doing the activities?

5. Do you love your pet, too?

6. What value did you learn from Richard?

7. Do you promise to love and take care of your pets?

The pupils will read a story about pets.

What are these phrases trying to express?

Those are what we called prepositions and prepositional phrases.

A Preposition is a word that shows location


Examples: on, over, under, above
• shows how two words or ideas are related
• shows the relationship between an object (the noun) and another word in the sentence.
A Prepositional Phrase includes the preposition, the object, and the modifier
* can act as an adverb or adjective
• Examples:
He was running away from bugs.
He was talking with his mouth full.
They were walking like zombies.
She was working like a machine.
