A. ENGAGEMENT  Review the pupils the previous lessons learned.
Ask:
 What are the two characteristic of the animals?
 What is the difference between vertebrates and invertebrates
animal?
 Give examples of vertebrates and invertebrates animals.

- The teacher will present the objectives of the new lesson.

- The teacher will also set the learners’ expectations about the
lesson and the instruction of delivery.
B. EXPLORATION  Group the pupils into three groups
- Each group will be given picture that is puzzled. The
student will solve and identify what it is.

A Day in School

Diana walks happily to school every day. She is one of the punctual
pupils in Grade –IV Jacinto class. She arrives in school at 6:45 in the
morning.

She willingly helps her classmates clean their classroom. They

sweep the floor and arrange the chairs.

Their class starts at 7:30 in the morning. Diana and her classmates
are now ready to learn a new lesson.

The underlined words in Set A (school and classroom) tell about the
place where the action happened. They answer the “where” question.
They are called adverbs of place.

The underlined words in Set B (every day, 6:45 in the morning, 7:30 in
the morning, now) tell about the time that the action happened. They
answer the “when” question. They are called adverbs of time.

The underlined words in Set C (happily and willingly) tell about the
manner the action is done. They answer the “how” question. They are
called adverbs of manner.
Adverbs of manner are usually placed after the main verb. However, it
is also possible to place them before the main verb.

1. An adverb is a word or phrase that describes or modifies an

adjective, a verb, or other adverb.
2. A word that answers the “where” question is an adverb ofplace. It
describes the place where the actions happened.

3. A word that answers the “when” question is an adverb of time. It

tells when an action happened and how often it occurs.

4. A word that answers the “how” question is an adverb ofmanner. It

tells how things are done. It is usually placed after the main verb or after
the object.
