1. Describing part of the body from picture below.
2. Mention the it’s function.

Answer
1. a.   Brain
The brain is one of the most complex organs in the human body. This organ is composed of a
number of support networks and billions of connected nerve cells. The brain is protected by a covering
layer called the lining of the brain and skull, and is connected to the spinal cord. The brain has three
parts namely: cerebrum, cerebellum, and brain stem.
b.   Lung
The lungs are the organs of respiration or respiration associated with the respiratory and circulatory
systems in the body of air-breathing vertebrates. Parts of the lungs namely: pleura, bronchi,
bronchioles, and alveoli.
c.   Heart
The heart is a hollow muscular organ that pumps blood through the blood vessels by repeated rhythmic
contractions. The heart is located in the chest cavity slightly to the left, between the right lung and the
left lung. It’s mass is approximately three hundred grams, the size of a fist. 
d.   Liver
The liver is the largest and most complex gland in the body, brownish red in color. The liver is located
in the upper right of the abdominal cavity below the diaphragm, on either side of the upper quadrant,
which is mostly on the right. It weighs fifteen hundred grams of the body weight of a normal adult. The
liver is divided into a left lobe and a right lobe separated by a falciform ligament. The right lobe of the
liver is larger than the left lobe and has three main parts: the right upper lobe, the caudate lobe, and the
quadrates lobe.
e.   Stomach
The stomach is a muscular organ in the upper left of the stomach, between the esophagus and small
intestine, and is the most important organ of the digestive system. The stomach wall is composed of
your layers namely: mucosa, submucosa, muscularis, and serosa.
f.    Kidney
The kidney is an organ that has an important role in regulating the balance of water and metabolites in
the body and maintaining acid-base balance in the blood. The waste product in the form of urine leaves
the kidneys and goes to the urinary tract to be excreted from the body.
g.   Large Intestine
The large intestine or colon is an organ in the digestive system which is a continuation of the small
intestine. When stretched, the length of the large intestine can reach one point five to two meters. The
large intestine has a wall structure similar to that of the small intestine, such as the
serous, muscular, submucosal, and mucosal layers.
h.    Small Intestine
The small intestine is the part of the intestine where ninety percent of food digestion and absorption
occurs in the stomach and large intestine. Digestion involves two distinct parts.
 
2. Mention the it’s function.
a. The brain functions as the body’s control center and makes up the central nervous system.
b. The lungs function to exchange oxygen from the air with carbon dioxide from the blood.
c. The heart functions as pumping blood throughout the body.
d. The liver functions as neutralizing and detoxifying, regulating circulating hormones, and regulating
the composition of blood containing fat.
e. The stomach functions as a place to store food and digest food both mechanically and chemically.
f. The kidneys function to filter and remove waste such as toxins, excess salt, and urea.
g. The large intestine functions to reabsorb various nutrients and substances in food that have not been
absorbed by the small intestine.
h. The small intestine functions to absorb nutrients from food and drink that has been consumed.
