RATIONALE:

PAILAW PARA SA MARALITA PROJECT

Despite of the fast pacing of the so-called technological advancement in today’s time, there
were still remote areas in our locality that living in an old days – no electricity – the only thing that lights
up there dim nights is only the “lamparas”, candles or “sulo”. Because of poverty, our fellows never yet
experienced a life that powered by electricity. But whatever it is, they have no choice but to cope up
with the situation that someday they will experience a better life- a life that have light in night.

As one of our advocacy in helping those in need even in our simple way, we came-up the
“Pailaw para sa Maralita Project”. The group decided to place the project in Purok Masagana Baluan,
General Santos City with three (3) household recipients that belongs to the poorest of the poor. Those
beneficiaries will be provided with electrical supplies to be connected in the main line. The main
purpose of this project is to bring light to the chosen recipients for them to experience a bright life in
night.

In doing this project, there is still a dilemma that after giving them the power supply they
needed, the question is how will they survive in paying the electric bills?. But that question never
hinders us in fulfilling this project, maybe they were poor but we believe they can do something in
paying their bills knowing that this is one of their greatest things to have. We just give them piece of
advices on how to save electricity. And hoping they will do more to maximize this project and somehow
this could add up to their life.

Our “Pailaw para sa Maralita Project” is just a way of giving back to all the blessings we received
from above. Though it is a subject requirement but we’re so bliss that our group really pushed to bring
this charity act to our fellows. And we consider this thing as our first advocacy of helping others.
Because we believe “it is now our status who will define us in the end but it is our deeds”.
