LỜI CẢM ƠN
1, Để cám ơn người khác, chúng ta có thể dùng những câu hoặc cấu trúc sau:
Thank you. (Cảm ơn bạn.) Thank you very much. (Cảm ơn bạn nhiều.) Thanks. (Cảm ơn.)
Thanks a lot. (Cảm ơn nhiều.) Thanks for your advice. (Cám ơn vì lời khuyên của bạn.)
I'm really grateful to you. (Tôi rất biết ơn anh.) It was very kind of you. (Anh thật là tốt.)
I really/ highly appreciate it. (Tôi thực sự đánh giá cao điều đó.)
Thanks anyway. (Dù sao cũng cám ơn bạn.)
* Chú ý:
Đôi khi ta có thể thêm một ít thông tin trong lời cám ơn, đặc biệt khi cám ơn lời khuyên, lời động viên hoặc
lời khen ngợi.
Ví dụ: What a beautiful dress you're wearing! (Chiếc váy bạn mặc thật đẹp!)
Thanks. I made it myself. (Cám ơn. Mình tự may đấy.)
2.Chúng ta dùng một trong những câu hoặc cấu trúc sau để đáp lại lời cám ơn của người
khác:
You're welcome. (Rất hân hạnh.) No problem./ No worries. (Không có gì./ Đừng bận tâm.)
It's alright. (Không có gì.) It's ok. (Không có gì.) Not at all. (Không có gì.)
Never mind. (Đừng bận tâm./Đừng ngại.)
Don't mention it. (Không cần nhắc đến chuyện đó đâu.)
It's my pleasure. (Đó là niềm vinh hạnh cho tôi): dùng trong những tình huống trang trọng
LỜI XIN LỖI
3.Để xin lỗi người khác chúng ta có thể dùng những câu hoặc cấu trúc sau:
I'm sorry (for...) (Tôi xin lỗi vì ...)
I'm so/ very/ terribly/ extremely sorry. (Tôi thực sự xin lỗi.)
I apologize for ... (Tớ xin lỗi vì...)h
I hope you'll forgive my ... (Tớ hy vọng cậu tha thứ
cho ...) Please accept my apologies for ... (Tha lỗi cho tớ
vì ... nhé.)
* Chú ý: Thông thường người xin lỗi sẽ đưa ra lý do phạm lỗi, nhận trách nhiệm về mình hoặc hứa một
điều gì đó.
Ví dụ: Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't see you. (Ôi, cháu xin lỗi. Cháu không nhìn thấy bác.) → đưa lý do
I'm so sorry. It's my fault. (Tớ xin lỗi. Đấy là lỗi của tớ.) → nhận trách nhiệm
I'm sorry. I'll be more careful next time. (Em xin lỗi. Lần sau em sẽ cẩn thận hơn.) → lời hứa

4.Để tha lỗi cho người khác ta dùng một trong những câu hoặc cấu trúc sau:

That's alright. (Không sao.) Never mind. (Đừng bận tâm.)


Don't worry about it. (Đừng bận tâm về điều đó.)Don't apologize. (Không cần phải xin lỗi đâu.)
It doesn't matter. (Không sao.) That's ok. (Không sao cả.) Forget about it. (Quên việc đó đi.)
No harm done. (Có tổn hại gì đâu.) It's not your fault. (Không phải lỗi của cậu.)
Please don't blame yourself. (Thôi đừng có tự trách mình nữa.)
* Chú ý: Cũng có thể đưa ra lý do tại sao mình tha lỗi cho người khác.
Ví dụ 1: A: I apologize for the noise last night. (Tôi xin lỗi vì tiếng ồn đêm qua.)
B: Don't worry about it. I slept very well all night. (Đừng bận tâm về điều đó. Cả đêm
qua tôi ngủ rất ngon.)
Ví dụ 2: A: I'm very sorry. I just forgot to bring your book. (Tớ rất xin lỗi. Tớ quên mang
sách của cậu đi B: It's alright. I don't need it today, anyway. (Không sao. Dù sao thì hôm nay tớ cũng không
cần đến nó.)
LỜI KHEN NGỢI

5.Khi khen ngợi thành tích của người nào đó ta có thể dùng những câu sau:
Well done! (Làm tốt lắm.) Good job! (Rất tốt!) I'm proud of you! (Tôi tự hào về cậu.)
You deserve it! (Cậu xứng đáng với điều đó/ thứ đó.) Good for you! (Rất tốt!)
Ví dụ 1: A: Mom, I passed the exam! (Mẹ ơi, con đỗ rồi!)
B: Really? I'm proud of you! (Thật ư? Mẹ tự hào về con!)
Your essay is very good. Well done, Tom! (Bài luận của em viết rất hay. Khá lắm,

6.Để đưa ra lời khen về một vật của người khác ta có thể dùng những câu tương tự như những câu sau:
Your house is so beautiful. (Ngôi nhà của bạn đẹp quá!)
I really love/ like your house. (Tớ thực sự rất thích nhà của
cậu!) What a nice house! (Ngôi nhà đẹp quá!)
How gorgeous your house is! (Ngôi nhà của bạn thật lộng lẫy!) Isn't your
house beautiful! (Ngôi nhà của bạn rất đẹp!)
You look very good in that dress! (Trông em thật xinh trong chiếc váy đó.)
This soup is so delicious. My compliments to you! (Món súp này ngon quá. Tôi có lời khen dành cho bạn
đấy.)
7.Để đáp lại lời khen ngợi của người khác, chúng ta dùng các câu hoặc cấu trúc sau:
Thank you. (Cảm ơn bạn.) Thank you very much. (Cảm ơn bạn rất nhiều.)
How nice of you to say so. (Bạn thật tuyệt khi nói như vậy!)
I'm glad you like it. (Tớ mừng vì cậu thích nó.)
Yeah, it's my favourite, too. (Đúng vậy, tớ cũng thích nó.)
It was nothing really. (Nó thực sự chẳng nhằm nhò gì.) => thể hiện sự khiêm tốn
Ví dụ 1: A: You look gorgeous in that dress! (Trông cậu thật tuyệt trong chiếc váy đó!)
B: Really? It's my favourite, too. (Vậy ư? Đó cũng là chiếc váy ưa thích của mình.)
Ví dụ 2: A: Your performance was wonderful! (Màn biểu diễn của cậu thật tuyệt!)
B: Thanks! I'm glad you liked it. (Cám ơn. Tớ vui vì cậu thích nó.)
LỜI CHÚC MỪNG
8.Để chúc mừng ta có thể dùng những câu hoặc cấu trúc sau:
Congratulations! (Chúc mừng.)
Congratulations on + N! (Chúc mừng vì ...) 9.Cách trả lời tốt nhất cho một lời chúc mừng là cám ơn và đưa
ra thêm một ít thông tin nếu cần thiết.
Ví dụ: A: Congratulations, Molly! (Chúc mừng Molly!)
B: Thanks a lot. I'm glad you're here. (Cám ơn anh. Em vui vì anh ở đây.)
LỜI ĐỘNG VIÊN
10.Khi cần động viên một người sắp thực hiện một việc gì đó ta có thể dùng:
Good luck! (Chúc may mắn!) Break a leg! (Chúc may mắn!)
You can do it! (Cậu có thể làm được mà!)
I believe you can do/ make it! (Tớ tin là cậu có thể làm được!)
Don't worry. Just try your best! (Đừng lo lắng. Hãy cố hết sức.) Be confident! (Tự tin lên.)
Ví dụ: A: I have an interview tomorrow. (Tớ có một cuộc phỏng vấn vào ngày mai.)
B: Good luck! (Chúc may mắn nhé!)
11.Ngoài ra, chúng ta có thể dùng những câu hoặc cấu trúc sau để động viên một người đang gặp khó khăn,
buồn phiền:
Don't worry. (Đừng lo.) That's ok. (Không sao đâu.)
Everything will be fine. (Mọi chuyện sẽ ổn cả thôi.)
Take it easy. (Mặc kệ nó đi./ Hãy suy nghĩ thoáng hơn.)
It's going to be alright. (Mọi chuyện sẽ ổn thôi.) Don't give up! (Đừng từ bỏ!)
It's not that bad! (Mọi chuyện không tệ thế đâu.) Be strong. (Hãy mạnh mẽ lên.)
Ví dụ: A: My French is hopeless. (Tiếng Pháp của tớ chắc là vô vọng.)
B: Don't worry. It's not that bad. (Đừng lo lắng. Không tệ thế đâu.)
LỜI MỜI
12.Khi muốn mời người khác ăn/ uống gì đó hoặc làm việc gì ta có thể dùng các cấu trúc sau:
Do you want + to V ?
Ví dụ: Do you want to go to the movies tonight? (Bạn có muốn đi xem phim tối nay không?)
How about + V-ing?
Ví dụ: How about joining us for the party? (Hãy cùng chúng tôi tham dự bữa tiệc nhé?)
Would you like + N/ to V?
Ví dụ: Would you like some coffee? (Bạn có muốn uống chút cà phê không?)
Would you like to dance? (Bạn có muốn nhảy không?)
13.Khi nhận được một lời mời ta có thể đồng ý hoặc từ chối. Có thể dùng các câu sau để thể hiện đồng ý:
Yes, please. (Vâng./ Được.) Sure, thank you. (Chắc chắn rồi. Cám ơn vì lời mời.)
Yes, I'd love to. (Tớ rất thích.) Sure, that sounds great. (Chắc chắn rồi, nghe hay đấy.)
Why not? I really like ... (Tại sao không? Mình thực sự thích ...)
Good idea. (Ý hay đấy.) Sounds like fun. (Nghe có vẻ hay đấy.)
14.Để từ chối lời mời ta có thể dùng các câu sau:
No, thanks. (Không, cảm ơn.)
No, but thanks for offering/ inviting me. (Không, nhưng cám ơn vì đã mời tôi.)
I'd better not. (Tôi nghĩ là không được rồi.) I'd rather not. (Tôi chắc là không được rồi.)
I'm sorry but I can't. (Tôi xin lỗi nhưng tôi không thể.)
I don't think I can. (Tôi không nghĩ là tôi có thể.)
I'm sorry but I'm very busy these days. (Tôi xin lỗi nhưng mấy ngày hôm nay tôi rất bận.)
How about some other time? (Để khi khác được không?)
Ví dụ:
A: How about going camping with us next week? (Tuần tới đi cắm trại với bọn tớ thì thế nào
B: I don't think I can. I have a big test next week. (Mình không nghĩ mình đi được. Tuần tới
mình có bài kiểm tra quan trọng.)
* Chú ý: Khi ta từ chối hoặc nhận lời mời ta nên bổ sung thông tin, hoặc lý do cho điều đó.
15.Cách trả lời tốt nhất cho một lời động viên là cám ơn và đưa thêm một ít thông tin nếu cần thiết.
Ví dụ: A: Don't worry. Everything will be fine. (Đừng lo. Mọi chuyện sẽ ổn cả thôi.) B : Thank
you. I really hope so. (Cám ơn cậu. Tớ cũng hi vọng là vậy.)

LỜI YÊU CẦU


16.Để yêu cầu người khác làm gì đó, chúng ta có thể dùng các cấu trúc sau:
Câu mệnh lệnh: Please open the door. (Làm ơn hãy mở cửa ra.)
Can/ Will + S + V + ...? Can you turn off the TV, please? (Bạn làm ơn tắt ti vi đi được không?)
Could/ Would + S +V + ...?
Would you please send this letter for me? (Bạn có thể gửi hộ tớ bức thư này được không?)
Woud you mind + Ving + ...?
Would you mind closing the window? (Anh có phiền đóng cửa sổ lại giùm tôi được không?)
17.Để đáp lại lời yêu cầu chúng ta có thể dùng các câu hoặc cấu trúc sau:
Chấp nhận: Sure. (Chắc chắn rồi./ Tất nhiên rồi.) Ok. (Được.) No problem. (Không vấn đề.)
No of course not. (Tất nhiên là không phiền rồi.) => trả lời câu hỏi với Would you mind ...)
Từ chối: I'm sorry, but ... (Tôi xin lỗi nhưng ...) I'd like to, but ... (Tôi rất muốn nhưng ...)
I'd really like to help you, but ... (Tôi rất muốn giúp bạn nhưng...)
*Lưu ý khi từ chối ta nên đưa ra lý do phù hợp.
Ví dụ 1:
A: Can you pass me those documents, please? (Cậu chuyển cho mình những tài liệu đó với?)
B: Sure. Here you are. (Tất nhiên rồi. Đây này.)

A: Would you mind opening the window, please? (Cậu có phiền mở giúp mình cửa sổ không?)
B: I'm sorry, but I'm a little cold now. (Tớ xin lỗi, nhưng bây giờ tớ hơi lạnh.)

LỜI ĐỀ NGHỊ
18.Khi muốn đề nghị giúp đỡ ai ta có thể dùng các cấu trúc sau:
Let me + V + .... Let me wash the dishes for you. (Để con rửa bát cho.)
Can I + V + ... ? Can I help you? (Tớ giúp cậu nhé?)
Shall I + V + ...? Shall I clean the car for you? (Bố rửa xe cho con nhé?)
Would you like + to V + ...?
Would you like me to clean your car? (Con có muốn bố rửa xe cho con không?)
19.Ta có thể dùng cấu trúc sau để chấp nhận hoặc từ chối lời đề nghị:
Chấp nhận: Yes, please. (Vâng làm ơn.) Sure. Thank you. (Chắc chắn rồi. Cám ơn bạn.)
That would be nice. Thanks. (Bạn thật là tốt. Cám ơn.)
Từ chối: That's ok. I can do it myself. (Không sao. Tôi có thể tự làm được.)
Don't worry. I can manage. (Đừng lo, tôi có thể xoay sở được.)
No. Thanks anyway. (Không cần đâu. Dù sao cũng cám ơn.)
Ví dụ 1: A: Can I get you a cup of coffee? (Tớ lấy cho cậu một tách cà phê nhé?)
B: Yes, please. Thanks. (Ừ. Cám ơn cậu.)
Ví dụ 2: A: Let me set the table for you. (Để tôi dọn bàn đó giúp anh nhé?)
B: Don't worry. I can do it myself. (Đừng bận tâm. Tôi tự làm được.)
Ví dụ 3: A: Would you like us to wash these potatoes? (Chú có muốn chúng cháu rửa đống khoai tây này
không?)
B: It's ok. I can manage. (Không cần đâu. Chú có thể xoay sở được.)
LỜI KHUYÊN
20.Khi cần khuyên một ai đó, có thể dùng các cấu trúc sau:
You should/ ought to + V + ...
You should pay more attention to your studies. (Các em nên tập trung hơn vào việc học.)
You need + to V + … You need to see the doctor soon. (Cậu nên đi khám sớm đi.) You'd better + V
+ ...
It's so late. You'd better stay here tonight. (Muộn rồi. Cậu nên ở lại đây đêm nay.)
If I were you, I would + V + ...
If I were you, I would call her right now. (Nếu tớ là cậu, tớ sẽ gọi ngay cho cô ấy.)
Why don't you + V + ...
Why don't you find another job? (Tại sao cậu không tìm một công việc khác?)
LỜI ĐỀ XUẤT
21.Chúng ta có thể đưa ra ý kiến đề xuất hay đề nghị với các cấu trúc sau:
What/ how about + N/ Ving?
How about going to the concert tonight? (Hay là tối nay mình đi xem hòa nhạc đi.) Why don't we +
V + ...?
Why don't we go on a picnic tomorrow? (Tại sao ngày mai chúng ta không đi dã ngoại nhỉ?) Let's + V + ...
Let's discuss the problem right now. (Hay là chúng ta bàn về vấn đề này ngay bây giờ.)
Shall we + V + ...? Shall we dance? (Hay là chúng mình nhảy đi?)
We could + V+ …
We could eat at Parkson. It's great. (Chúng ta có thể ăn ở Parkson. Nó tuyệt lắm.)
I suggest (that) you + (should) + V + ... => gợi ý người khác làm gì
I suggest + Ving + ... => gợi ý cùng làm gì
I suggest you wear the blue shirt. (Tớ gợi ý cậu nên mặc chiếc áo màu xanh.)
I suggest wearing the blue shirts. (Mình gợi ý chúng ta hãy mặc những chiếc áo màu xanh.) Have you thought
of/ about + N/ Ving?
Have you thought of giving him a tie? (Cậu đã từng nghĩ đến việc tặng anh ấy cà vạt chưa?)
22.Dùng các câu sau để trả lời các ý kiến đề nghị hay đề xuất:
Đồ ng tình: It's a good idea. (Ý kiến hay đó.) Sounds great. (Nghe có vẻ hay đấy.)
Sounds like fun. (Nghe có vẻ thú vị đấy.) Yes, I'd love to. (Mình rất thích.)
Không đồng tình:
Sorry/ What a pity ... (Xin lỗi/ Thật tiếc ...)
I don't think it's a good idea. (Tớ không nghĩ đó là một ý kiến hay.)
Các em hãy theo dõi ví dụ sau nhé:
A: I'm so bored. Sitting around here makes me sick. (Mình thấy chán quá. Ngồi yên một chỗ khiến
mình phát ốm.)
B: How about watching a movie? (Hay là tụi mình xem phim đi?)
A: Sounds great. (Hay đấy.)
LỜI CẢNH BÁO
23.Khi muốn cảnh báo người khác ta có thể dùng một trong các cấu trúc sau:
Câu mệnh lệnh (V + .../ Don't + V + ...)
Be careful! (Hãy cẩn thận!) Watch out! (Coi chừng!) Don't run! (Đừng chạy!)
Ví dụ: be careful! The box is very heavy. (Hãy cẩn thận! Cái thùng đó nặng lắm đó.)
Don't run! The road is very wet and slippery. (Đừng chạy! Đường rất ướt và trơn.) You'd better
(not) + V + ... Bạn nên/ không nên ...
Ví dụ: You'd better not swim too far away. (Con không nên bơi xa quá.)
Otherwise/ or Nếu không thì/ hoặc
Ví dụ: Work harder, otherwise you won't get the promotion. (Hãy làm việc chăm chỉ hơn, nếu không anh sẽ
không được thăng tiến đâu.)

24.Để hỏi ý kiến một người nào đó ta có thể dùng một trong những cấu trúc sau:
What do you think (about it)? (Bạn nghĩ gì (về việc đó)?)
What's your opinion (about that)? (Bạn có ý kiến gì (về việc đó)?)
How do you feel (about that)? (Bạn thấy thế nào (về việc đó)?)
Do you have any ideas (about that)? (Bạn có ý kiến gì (về việc đó) không?)
Do you think that ...? (Bạn có nghĩ rằng ...?)
Ví dụ:How do you feel about a trip to Hawaii? (Cậu thấy thế nào về một kỳ nghỉ ở Hawaii?)

25.Để đưa ra ý kiến ta có thể dùng các câu hoặc cấu trúc sau:

I think/ I don't think ... (Tôi nghĩ rằng/ Tôi không nghĩ là...)
I believe/ I don't believe ... (Tôi tin là/ Tôi không tin là ...)
I feel that/ I don't feel that ... (Tôi thấy rằng/ Tôi không thấy là ...)
In my opinion/ In my judgement ... (Theo ý kiến của tôi/ Theo phán đoán của tôi ...)
If you ask me ... (Nếu anh hỏi tôi ...)
Of course. (Tất nhiên rồi.)/ Of course not. (Tất nhiên là không.)
There's no doubt about it. / No doubt about it. (Không nghi ngờ gì về điều này.)
Yes, it's a very good idea. (Đúng, đó là một ý kiến hay.)
No, that's ridiculous. (Không. Thật nực cười.)
No, it won't work. (Nó sẽ không có tác dụng đâu.)
Ví dụ 1:
Do you think that he is a kind-hearted man? (Cậu có nghĩ rằng anh ấy là một người nhân hậu?)
I think that he is very kind. (Tôi thấy anh ấy rất tốt bụng.)
Ví dụ 2: Do you think they are in love? (Cậu có nghĩ rằng họ đang yêu nhau?)
There's no doubt about it. (Không còn nghi ngờ gì về điều đó.)

SỰ ĐỒNG Ý VÀ KHÔNG ĐỒNG Ý


26.Ta có thể dùng các cấu trúc sau để thể hiện sự đồng ý:
I agree with you. = You can say that again. (Tôi đồng ý với bạn.)
I'm with you. (Tớ ở phe cậu./Tớ đồng ý.)
You're (exactly) right. (Cậu hoàn toàn đúng.) That's right/ good. (Đúng vậy./ Tốt đấy.)
Good/ Great idea. (Ý hay đấy.) You bet! (= Yes) (Chắc luôn./ Chắc chắn rồi.)
Ví dụ: I think we have to raise more money. (Tớ nghĩ chúng ta phải huy động thêm tiền.)
You can say that again. (Tớ đồng ý.)
Ngoài ra còn có thể dùng thêm các câu, cấu trúc sau:
I couldn't agree more. (Tớ không thể đồng ý hơn được nữa.)
I totally agree with you. (Tớ hoàn toàn đồng ý với cậu.)
There's no doubt about it. (Không còn nghi ngờ gì về điều đó.)
Me too. = I do, too. = So do I. (Tớ cũng vậy.) => Đồng ý một ý kiến khẳng định
Me neither. = Neither do I. = I don't either. (Tớ cũng không.) => Đồng ý một ý kiến phủ định Ví dụ: A: I
believe he is a spy. (Tớ tin anh ta là gián điệp.)
B: Me too. / I do, too. / So do I. (Tớ cũng tin thế.)

27.Khi muốn thể hiện sự không đồng ý, ta có thể dùng các câu hoặc cấu trúc sau:
I don't agree with you. = I disagree with you. (Tôi không đồng ý với bạn.)
I'm afraid (that) I can't agree with you. (Tôi e rằng tôi không thể đồng ý với bạn.)
I don't think you're right. (Tớ không nghĩ cậu đúng.)
I don't think so. (Tớ không nghĩ như vậy.) I think you're wrong. (Tớ nghĩ cậu sai rồi.)
Are you kidding me? (Cậu đang đùa tớ đấy à?)
Ví dụ 1: A: In my opinion, this house was built a long time ago. (Theo tớ nghĩ thì ngôi nhà này xây cách
đây lâu lắm rồi.)
B: I don't think so. It looks quite new. (Tớ không nghĩ vậy. Trông nó khá mới.)
Ví dụ 2: A: I think you should meet her to say goodbye. (Tớ nghĩ là cậu nên gặp cô ấy để nói lời tạm biệt.)
B: I'm afraid I don't agree with you. She doesn't want to see me. (Tớ nghĩ là không nên. Cô ấy không muốn
gặp tớ đâu.)
XIN PHÉP
28.Ta có thể dùng các câu hoặc cấu trúc sau để xin phép:
Can I ...:
Can I borrow your pen for a while? (Tớ có thể mượn bút của cậu một lát được không?) Could I ...: Could I use
your computer for a moment? (Mình có thể dùng máy tính của bạn một chút được không?)
May I ...: May I go out? (Thưa cô cho em ra ngoài ạ./Tôi có thể ra ngoài được không?)
Is it Ok if ...: Is it Ok if I smoke in here? (Tôi hút thuốc ở đây có sao không?)
Is it alright if ...: Is it alright if I open the window? (Tớ mở cửa sổ không vấn đề gì chứ.)
Would it be Ok if I ...:
Would it be Ok if I put my coat here? (Tôi để áo khoác ở đây được không?)
Would/ Do you mind if I ...: Do you mind if I sit here? (Anh không phiền nếu tôi ngồi đây chứ?)
2 - CHO PHÉP
29.Để cho phép ai làm điều gì ta có thể dùng các câu sau:
Sure. (Chắc chắn rồi./ Tất nhiên rồi.) Go ahead. (Cứ làm đi./Cứ tiếp tục đi.)
Alright. (Được.)Yes, I guess so. (Tôi cho là được.) No problem. (Không vấn đề gì.)
No. Just go ahead. (Không sao. Cứ làm đi.) => đáp lại câu xin phép với Would/ Do you mind ...
No worries. (Không vấn đề gì.)
Ví dụ:A: Can I borrow your book for a while? Tớ mượn quyển sách của cậu một lúc được 0)
B: Sure. (Chắc chắn là được rồi.)
* Chú ý: Khi người xin phép dùng "Do you mind ...?" hoặc "Would you mind ...?" ta dùng "No"
nếu ta cho phép.
Ví dụ 1: A: Do you mind if I sit here? (Bạn có phiền không nếu tớ ngồi đây?)
B: No. Just go ahead. (Không. Bạn ngồi đi.)
Ví dụ 2: A: Would you mind if I go out for a while?(Anh không phiền nếu tôi ra ngoài một látch
B: No. Go ahead. (Không. Anh cứ đi đi.)
