6 Remote Tuning Protocol

Updated: 1/11/01 Rev 2

In order to maintain proper verbal communication the following will be followed to keep
consistent communication between the Atlanta DLN TA and the Site Controls TA.
Once first fire is achieved and the unit is synchronized the tuning is to be directed by the DLN TA. Some
of the common procedures will be as follows:

For every change the DLN TA would like to make the following procedure should take place - for this
example MW will be used:

 DLN TA: “Move MW to 50”

 Controls TA: “MW to be moved to 50”
 DLN TA: “Affirmative” or “Negative”
If Affirmative:
 Controls TA: “Moving MW to 50” (Makes the move)
 Controls TA: “MW has reached 50” (When target is reached)
 DLN TA: “Standby”
If Negative:
 Controls TA will not make any controls changes and will standby and wait for DLN TA instruction.

Common commands:

 Move MW to ###
 Move PM1 Split Bias to #.# percent
 Move PM3 Split Bias to #.# percent
 Force “LOGIC-POINT” to a #

If the DLN TA sees high dynamics and needs to move the unit to a safe place the following will take place:
Example: The unit is in Mode 6 and PM1 is at 13%
The PM1 Bias is set to 1%
The DLN TA wants to move the unit to PM1 Split of 11%

 DLN TA: “Move PM1 Bias to -1 by half’s ---- NOW”

 Controls TA: “PM1 to be moved to -1 by half’s”
 DLN TA: “Affirmative”
 Controls TA “Moving PM1 to 0.5”
 Controls TA “Moving PM1 to 0”
 Controls TA “Moving PM1 to –0.5”
 Controls TA “Moving PM1 to -1”
 Controls TA “PM1 Bias is at -1”
 DLN TA “Standby”

The above split may be moved by ones, half’s or quarter’s as dictated by the DLN TA.

Note:
If at any time the DLN TA says “standby” the Controls TA will stop and wait for instruction.
In the event of LOSS OF COMMUNICATION the following is to take place:
Loss of DATA communication:
The CONTROLS will automatically bring the unit back to “No Bias” – and the Controls TA will bring the
unit to the “Safe Place Condition”.

Loss of PHONE communication:

The controls TA will disable remote tuning and will bring the unit to the “Safe Place Condition”.

Safe Place:
As the Unit is being Tuned the DLN TA will let the Controls TA know where the “Safe Place” of the unit
is. It is to be a place where dynamics are less than 2 psi. The “Safe Place” will most likely not be more
than 5 to 10 MW below current load. Once a location has been selected as a “Safe Place” the controls TA
can move the unit to that location in the event of loss of communication.
