Awan bricks making company was formed in 2001. Awan bricks making is well
known company. This company ranks among the famous companies of the city. company’s
owner is well known because of his decision and his social working life. Making bricks from
the clay requires high amount of labor in bricks kiln business. Labor’s work is to molding of
bricks adding bricks in kiln and to bake bricks, and these tasks requires a lot of labor and
when we talk about more labor it means increasing of cost. In 2015 Awan bricks making
company decided to reduce the cost to earn more profit and Awan bricks making company
expelled many of its workers from the company. After company started hiring new people in
place of these workers, but on the condition that they do the same work as old workers did
but the wages of this work will be less. Finding such workers was difficult, but the company
did find some workers who agreed to this condition. But the amount of workers who was
agreed on the condition was not so much to perform the work. The company needed more
workers to work with. To fulfil this Awan bricks making decided to hire children. Company
started hiring poor and orphans. And also Company started hiring children of its laborers and
started them working on make bricks. Earlier the company used to pay 800₨ for making
1000 bricks and now company give 350₨ for making 800 bricks to children. Definitely this
act decreased the cost of the company and profit margin is increased. In 2016 Awan bricks
making started hiring children rapidly. Now the company have 39 children who are currently
working on kiln and performing various tasks on brick kiln. These children’s working hours
are same as other workers, the children work for 8 hours a day. To reduce the cost Awan
bricks making company hired the children but company break the law. Because getting work
from the children is in child labor and it’s a serious crime in Pakistan. All the 39 children
who is working on brick kiln are the victims of child labor. According to 11 years old Ikram
(a child who is currently working in Awan bricks making company) he said“ the owner order
is to every child to make at least 750 bricks and they got 350Rs for it. And anyone doesn’t
meet the required target then the money is deducted from his or her wages.” Ikram is working
is Awan Bricks making company since 2017. Although Child labor is a crime, a violator can
face up six months up to two years and can face fine of twenty thousand to fifty thousand
rupees. Even though the owner hired these children because that can help their family
