Tell Me a Story

We Love To . . .
By Joan Marie Arbogast

We love to clap our hands.

Read this story, then put on some music and clap and stomp
and twirl your baby around to the rhythm and the beat.
When you act out what you read, it helps your child make
sense of what he or she sees on the pages of Hello.

Celebrating You
#Z/BODZ8IJUF$BSMTUSPNt"SUCZ$BSNFO.PL

There are birthday balloons,

Big hugs and wishes.
There are birthday presents
And plenty of kisses.

As you read this poem, stress the words that begin with B.
Then talk about what Grandpa might have brought in the
big blue box.
Now blow out the candles.
We’ll cut the cake, too.
This is the day
We celebrate YOU!
Let’s Do a Puzzle

Find It

There is much to count here: the
birds in the nest, the animals, toys,
and more. Have fun naming,
counting, and talking about all you
see in this puzzle.

Dad and Me
#Z8FOEJ 4JMWBOPt"SU CZ 4VF ,JOH

I dug a little pit where both our feet would

fit in the soft, warm sand.

After reading this story, you might want to get a ball and play a game
of catch. You could also fill a container with warm, clear water, add
some small toys or objects, and help your child hunt for them.
We go hunting for a shell as the waves begin
to swell on the soft, warm sand.
A beach ball comes my way when my dad
begins to play in the soft, warm sand.
Then I sit and watch the sea with my dad
right next to me in the soft, warm sand.

Jelly Baby
#Z&JMFFO4QJOFMMJt"SUCZ,BZ8JEEPXTPO

Jelly on Baby’s bib.

Jelly on Baby’s toes.
Jelly on Baby’s fingers.
Jelly on Baby’s nose.
Jelly on Baby’s tummy.
Jelly on Baby’s head.
Jelly, jelly everywhere—
Except on Baby’s bread.

Point to the bib and body parts as you read

the poem. Then find other bits of jelly in the
illustration. When you reread the poem, point
to your child’s body parts.
Bye-bye
for now!
