Description
The SUBCON-PLUS-CAN/... D-SUB series has been specifically designed for use in CAN systems up to 1 Mbps. It enables
quick and convenient connection of the incoming and outgoing bus cable under field conditions. The range consists of three
quick connectors:
– Angled cable feed with programming interface,
– Angled cable feed without programming interface,
– Straight cable feed.
The termination resistor is already integrated in all versions and can be enabled externally using a slide switch. The outgo-
ing bus segment is disabled simultaneously. This makes it easier to start up segment by segment and prevents incorrect
termination. In addition to this, the high-quality shielded connector housing also ensures high levels of immunity to interfer-
ence even at maximum transmission speed.
A special feature of the angled connector version is that the internal connection unit can be reversed. This enables you to
decide in the field whether the cable is to be fed from the right or the left. If it is not possible to use the angled version, the
SUBCON-PLUS-CAN/AX compact connector with a straight cable feed is available.
The connectors are designed for all standard CAN bus cables in accordance with CiA Draft Recommendation 303-1 with
an outside diameter of 8 mm.

BUS IN
The SUBCON-PLUS-CAN/SC2 and SUBCON-PLUS-CAN/
PG connectors provide the option of a cable feed on the left
or right-hand side. Upon delivery the connector is assem-
bled for left-hand feed.

BUS OUT
Connection for Left-Hand Cable Feed
• Strip the wires according to Figure 4.
• Unfasten the housing screws and remove the upper

housing part.
35 • Screw the stripped wires into the corresponding

contacts of the connection block.
Figure 4 Stripping lengths for left-hand cable feed
• Always connect the incoming bus cable (BUS IN) to the
(dimensions in mm)
connection points GND/1C+/1C–/1V+ (even at the
start of the bus system!).
• Always connect the outgoing bus cable (BUS OUT) to
the connection points GND/2C+/2C–/2V+.
Observe the color-coding of the connection blocks.
• Finally, mount and screw on the upper housing part.
The strain relief for the bus cable is thus established.

Termination Resistor
Activating the Termination Resistor and Disconnecting
the Outgoing Bus Cables
The termination resistors are activated at the start and end
of the bus system using the slide switch (2 in Figure 3 und
3 in Figure 10). The connection blocks (2C–/2C+) for the
outgoing bus cable are disconnected simultaneously.
The termination resistor must be deactivated on all other
nodes of the bus system.
