Many thanks for enrolling at the Oxford International English Test Centre [OIETC] for your English Language
Level Test. My name is Sarah Fenwick and I am here to guide you through your test.

Let me start by welcoming you to the Oxford International English Test Centre.

The assessment has three parts. Firstly, you will take an online test. This is an online automated English
language test and will give your English language examiner a starting point for your main assessment. The
test consists of 4 parts, speaking, writing, reading, and listening. Further details are below.

When you complete the test, I will be notified of your score. Once I have received your test result, you will
receive a second stage e-mail, containing the date and time of both your writing and speaking assessments.

Online Assessment

You will have ONE HOUR from starting the test to completing it and this is timed, so once you start your
online test you cannot stop and save your work. You can start the test whenever is most convenient for you
as the link itself does not expire, but please be aware that you cannot book stage 2 and 3 until you have
completed the online assessment, so if you require English certification for a UK Higher Education
application then we suggest you take the test as soon as possible

Written Assessment

Your written assessment will take place on a set time and date. You must be at a device capable of typing a
response at the start of this time. We strongly recommend that you use a computer for this part of the
assessment. Our registrar will email you the written task at the start of the hour.

- You MUST type your answer into the submission form emailed to you
- You MUST return you form within 1 hour from receiving the written task
- The assessment form should be returned to the same email you receive it from
registrar@oietc.com

The written assessment is graded by your assigned English language examiner, who will also complete your
speaking assessment the following day.

Speaking Assessment

Your speaking assessment will take place the following day after your written assignment. You will be told
the date and time in the Stage 2 email.

You will be sent an invitation for Microsoft Teams where your examiner will complete the speaking the
assessment.

- This is a face-to-face assessment

- You MUST have your ID available to view
- You MUST have a clear webcam and microphone; we strongly recommend you use a headset for
this part

The speaking assessment consists of three parts:

1. Welcome, ID check and any questions you may have, the examiner will also ask you some questions
about yourself
2. Presentation task – you will receive this when your written task is sent, and it must be prepared in
advance
3. Question and answer session – this will allow the examiner to reflect further on your written task,
and any questions they may have.

Completion and Certification

When you complete the oral assessment, you will receive a summary report on the three assessment
elements, online, written and speaking, along with a certificate of your language level from OIETC.
