Project scope 7 + 24 stations

Purpose
Pakistan Railway’s intends to modernize its existing

Signalling systems on entire main line from Karachi to

Peshawar in phases with the Electronic Interlocking at
Stations and Auto Block/Semi Auto Block (manual Block)
systems on double/single line block sections.
It is proposed to provide these systems from Lodhran to

Khanewal (7 Stations) and Khanewal to Shahdara Bagh
(24 Stations) double sections under this Project. The
locomotives operating in this section are also proposed
to be equipped with Cab signaling.

Main features of EBIScreen can be summarized as following;

• Handle individual command (point switching, release key point)
• Manage operator’s rights
• Perform event locking and alarm locking

The Central Interlocking

System (CIS) performs the

interlocking function,
receiving and evaluating
commands from the
operator via LCC, sending
orders to the Object
Controller System (OCS),
receiving status information
from the OCS and sending
indications to LCC

Not lit No data reception at the specific port
Flashes yellow data reception at the specific port

IPU950 - Power Supply

Supply Fuses
• The power supply shall be short-circuit protected.

• Can handle an input voltage 220 VAC +/-15% 50-60 Hz.
• Total Power 600 W.
• Output Voltages: +3.3V, +5V, +12V.
• Double Pole neutral fusing 1.25A.

• The Red and Yellow cables are used for network

redundancy of external connections.
• The White cable is used for Online/Standby

communication.

• Yard1 and Yard2 terminal will be connected from the VCS_R to the
FSW by using RJ-45
• FSW will be connected with each other for make redundant ring by
using RJ-45
• FSW connects to the OC by using Fiber Optic cable.

ESW connects to the network switch to establish the transmission system

which is the network for communication between the central interlocking
system and the local control system.

GBIC port of ESW uses to make connection between interlocking station

and adjacent interlocking station via Fiber Optic transmission system.

Maintenance Terminal

The Maintenance Terminal is the tool that enables a Site Engineer,
maintenance staff to get a close look at the status of the Interlocking
Processing Unit (IPU).

Transmission System Diagram

The transmission system comprises:
• Ethernet switch for communication system
• Used fiber optic cable for all connections

Configuration of Network
• We use configuration of
centralized network topology

For transmission system of
CIS and OCS.
• This configuration is suitable

when there is a long distance
between CIS and OCS.

Two configurations: 3 layer switch for key stations and 2 layer switch for the others
Telephone gateway: 24 lines for wayside station and 30 lines for junction station

Electric Point Machine (JEA73)

The non trailable point machine JEA73 is used for
electrical operation of single points, double slip points and
derailer. The machine is a self contained unit, mounted on two
normally spaced sleepers. The machine can be mounted either
on the right or the left hand side of the track.

Key Magnetic Locked point (JFV40)

The magnetic key lock with small indication lamp and
buzzer will be installed in the key box near the Magnetic Key
Locked Point to give the authorization for the point man to
manually operate the point machine. The detection of point
machine is performed by the point detector JFV40.

System Overview
- General Description

The cab signal equipment with monitoring
functions includes the cab signal and the LKJ2000 train
supervision equipment.
The cab signal equipment is composed of the

track circuit pickup coils and the receiving processing
module, of which the main function is to provide the
signal aspect to the driver after receiving and processing
the messages from the track circuit, and to provide the
control messages to the train supervision equipment.
