QUESTION: Why did the Spaniards partake in the blood pact with the precolonial Filipinos?

According to Filomeno V. Aguilar Your Thoughts About the Blood Compact

Aguilar cited that the blood pact was used by Spaniards to their native “allies” to
fight other tribes/barangays who were against the “noble cause” of Spaniards. He
noted that ilustrados see the blood compact as a contract between Spain and the
Philippines, where both are equals. The blood compact symbolized Filipinos’
allegiance to Spain, since they pledged an oath of loyalty to the King. This meant
that Spain had power over Filipinos.
According to Vicente Rafael
Rafael argued that blood pact, or Pacto de Sangre, sealed the bond, friendship or
alliance between natives and Spaniards. He saw this as a gateway for the initial
relationship that paved towards the conversion to Catholicism. He argued that
conversion was successful because of Spain’s configurations or mistranslations of
language, that affected political interpretation of the act.
I think that Spaniards saw the blood compact as an opportunity
for bonding with natives and gaining their trust. This was a
political move that was strategic on the part of Spaniards as this
became a bridge towards taking territory and converting natives
to Christianity. I think the Spaniards were also insensitive
towards doing the blood compact because they did not value the
cultural significance of the tradition. They only saw the blood
pact as a political and military move to gain allies against
rebelling tribes who refuses their friendship and religion.
