OVERVIEW

MANGO fashion Company Limited is one of the leading fashion groups in the
world and has been in existence since 1984. It is in the city of Barcelona,
Spain but has several branches across Europe, Asia and Africa. [CITATION
Man17 \l 1033 ]

The basic activities of the company involve designing, manufacturing and

marketing of clothing and accessories.
Also, MANGO is linked with other manufacturers, retailers, and suppliers.
The company has been in other sectors such as banking and E-commerce as
well.
As a result of the success MANGO Ltd has achieved, many competitors had
to settle in the fashion industry. Popular among the competitors are Adidas,
Nike, and Louis Vuitton. Engar, 2012)
However, MANGO Ltd has had many challenges namely:

 How to compete with new retailers.

 How to undergo certain transformation so that MANGO Ltd stays
attractive as it was.
 How to reduce margins and still make profits.
 How to update Information Systems (IS) and put them into better use.
 How to understand customers better by using IS to profile.
 How to invest in computing infrastructure and still cut costs, etc.

2
Task 1

1. The use of TWO (2) of the main enterprise systems (ES)

that Mango has implemented.

ES helps in dealing with situations of people involved with organizations like

buyers and suppliers, Enterprise System comes in application forms which
help management to make informed decisions for example, where to
commerce market, where raw materials should be purchased, whom to deal
with, how to maximize customer retention. ES also helps management to get
more orders by suggesting new market targets, putting up more businesses
from the existing customers, ways to give better offers than competitors, and
selection of customers, retailers and suppliers who may offer quality raw
material and with best prices. All external relationships of the organization are
monitored by the Enterprise System.[ CITATION Son20 \l 1033 ]

The main Enterprise system used by mango organization are Aims360 ERP
and Net-Suite ERP.

a. Net-Suite ERP. It a management business system/software that helps in

all key management processes by records on daily routine
transactions/activities within their business environment. This include
financial operations, order management, supply chain, warehouse and
procurement etc.[CITATION Man08 \l 1033 ]

b. Aims360. This helps mango fashion to manage their distribution,

manufacturing, project plan etc. The system provides them potent
instruments which help them in their logistics, financials, human
resources, and other business areas.[CITATION Man08 \l 1033 ]

3
BENEFITS OF INFORMATION SYSTEMS
Net-suit
 It helps to improve business plan. The Net-suit provide mango a
consolidate picture on inventory, sales, and their receivable. This serve
mango to make better plans. Because data can be access on their
centralized server, hence, this help managers of mango to make
effective decision based on the information and yields better results.
[CITATION Man08 \l 1033 ]

 This Net-suit helps mango fashion to enhance both B2B and B2C
collaboration.
 It helps provides business intelligence needed to make effective
decisions. With accurate data collected by the application, this help to
minimize the possibility of errors. [CITATION Man08 \l 1033 ]

Aims360

 With accurate data provided on inventory stocks. This help mango

fashion to eliminate any duplicated work thus deliver significant time
savings. [CITATION Man08 \l 1033 ]

 It ensures accuracy and assess shortages by quickly recounting

inventory. [CITATION Man08 \l 1033 ]

 It helps mango fashion to organize information about materials & other

components needed to manufacture products. [CITATION Man08 \l 1033 ]

4
HOW OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY WILL REDUCE IF THE
ABOVE ES IS REMOVED.
Net-suit

 STRUGGLE ACCESSING DATA. Net-Suite system has proven to

have real time report on MANGO business performance. Without it,
MANGO will struggle to report on business in real time. There would be
lack of complete reporting with cross department data and also real
time visibility into the status of all processes from quote to cash for
decision makers. Their marketing, sales data, won’t be accurate.
Hence, they might miss opportunities.[CITATION Man08 \l 1033 ]

 Net-Suite system has proven to provides business intelligence needed

to make effective decisions and also help to minimize the possibility of
errors. Working without it, there would be lack of information needed to
keep their business on board as a result there will incurs in losses and
the possibility errors would be high. [CITATION Man08 \l 1033 ]

 LACK OF COMMUNICATION. Net-Suite has proven to enable

MANGO to suffer free from no delay in cross-departmental
communication. Without it, this will prevent them from being connected
with their clients. As a result, task taken will be much longer than ever,
resulting in a reduction in productivity and lost opportunities. [CITATION
Man08 \l 1033 ]

Aims360

 Aims360 has proven to provide with accurate data on inventory stocks

and also, to avoid any duplicated work with efficient time savings
without it, there would be duplicated work which will lead mango
fashion to increase in its overhead cost. [CITATION Man08 \l 1033 ]

 Aims360 has proven to ensures accuracy and assess shortages by

quickly recounting inventory. Without it, the possibility of shortages raw
materials at mango fashion would be high as a result, this will lead
incomplete of tasks given. [CITATION Man08 \l 1033 ]

 Aims360 has proven to maintain and organize information about

materials needed at their production level. without it, there would be
lack needed materials at the production level needed for a specific
task. [CITATION Man08 \l 1033 ]

Task 2

Strategies that MANGO has to formulated to help reduce

excessive capital expenditure and yet results in increased
benefits.
6
Information systems have turn out to be an important and a vital device that is
used in most organizations to eases and helps in their day-to-day activities
from the administrational level to the operational level. Irrespective of the
advantages information systems can offer, it once in a while becomes quite
difficult for some companies to undertake because of the price it comes with it
and the negative consequences it may have in the company when
implementation goes incorrect. However, there are advanced strategies that
can be applied in the implementation of information systems that can lower it
costs and increase the advantages derived from adopting the information
systems. Here are some of the strategies companies such as Mango fashion
can practice to acquire new information devices which could assist minimize
the cost of capital expenditure and still offer some positive advantages;

a. Acquiring and setting up a whole new IT system.

 Buying straight from manufacturing sources rather than buying from

an agent or a retailer, Mango fashion should buy at once from an IT
manufacturing company, Digital-Ocean for example. This way, mango
fashion could be able to minimize expenditure on getting the IT
system as their bulk purchase could lead them to experience
advantages like buy 5 and get 2 free. [ CITATION Ben15 \l 1033 ]

 Partnership Agreement. Mango fashion could enter into partnership

agreement with a specified IT device seller, store, or the whole brand
such that it will benefit both parties. That being said, take Digital-
Ocean for example, may want to offer mango fashion its system at
less expensive cost and also reduce its installing fee. Therefore,
Mango fashion could also perform a form of
commercials/advertisements for Digital-Ocean for free. Mango fashion
reduce the purchase price (capital expenditure) as they get their IT
system at a low price, and Digital-Ocean may also be trusted by some
of Mango fashion’s loyal clients when they become aware that IT
devices used at Mango company is from Digital-Ocean. [ CITATION
Ben15 \l 1033 ]

 Online shopping. By using the procurement department, Mango

fashion could shop and purchase online. Products online are less
expensive and there are no agents/dealers involved. Online shopping
occasionally comes with free delivery.[ CITATION Ben15 \l 1033 ]

7
b. Acquisition and Installation of applications and softwares (Information
systems)
Cloud computing is innovative technology based in the cloud which
delivers services (stores and delivers software application) to centralize
systems. Mongo fashion can reduce excessive capital expenditure and
yet still results in increased benefits is by adopting a cloud system called
PaaS and IaaS.
1. Platform as a Service (PaaS).
PAAS is a kind of cloud computing service offering, where the service
provider provides a platform for customers to develop, execute, and
manage business applications without the need for infrastructure
construction, maintenance, and development that software
development processes generally require. [ CITATION Bob19 \l 1033 ]

Benefits.
 Generate productivity and innovation. PaaS aims to liberate mango
fashion from any maintenance which may result from the business
environment in which they are operating and also remove mango team
or personnel from maintenance which will enable them to focus on
innovative way to increase productivity. .[ CITATION Bob19 \l 1033 ]

 Deployment of PaaS will enable mango fashion to stay up to data in

their business environment because everything is based in the cloud
no maintenance would be required. This will help mango fashion to
boost their services at the production levels. .[ CITATION Bob19 \l 1033 ]

 PaaS offers can help mango to achieve their available objectives and
provide them with innovative new options for disaster recovery /
business continuity. PaaS providers have the resources, software and
know-how to avoid unwanted downtimes. .[ CITATION Bob19 \l 1033 ]

 When mango fashion decides on deploying software infrastructure by

themselves; there would be cost involve, systems maintenance etc. On
the other side, with a PaaS Mango can profit from a broad scaling
process that experts have developed over time to adapt to many
customer requirements. .[ CITATION Bob19 \l 1033 ]

2. IaaS.
It a cloud-based technology which delivers virtualized computing
information via the internet.[ CITATION Sta17 \l 1033 ]

Benefits.
8
 Higher infrastructure costs are a clear benefit of switching to the
IaaS platform. Organizations no longer have the obligation for
the care of, or removal of old equipment, computers or
networking software. It is a pay-as-you-go, saves a lot of money.
As the efficiency of IaaS is assessed, organizations simply pay
at any given time for the resources available. [ CITATION Sta17 \l 1033
]

 In every business field, rivalry is high and market time is one of

the best ways of overcoming competition. Because IaaS offers
elastics and scalability, mango fashion can improve and execute
research (as well as sell the product or service) quicker.
[ CITATION Sta17 \l 1033 ]

 Time, money and energy wasted on technological decisions and

hiring staff for development infrastructure management and
maintenance will be no more. By the adopting IaaS, mango
fashion can focus on creating new technologies and innovations
where they belong. [ CITATION Sta17 \l 1033 ]

Task 3

Information systems which helps MANGO to deal with

environmental problems to meet requirements.

 Air monitoring systems. This is system help mango fashion to

monitor polluter levels surrounding outdoors by gathering data on the

9
extent of pollution and help to evaluate emissions control strategies.
This provide mango industry real time quality information on pollution
which enable them to take effective emission reduction measures. For
instance, it enables MANGO to capitalize on localized air quality data
to take appropriate preventative and preservative actions to maximize
their quality of life.[CITATION Mon09 \l 1033 ]

In addition to responsibility for its workers and the surrounding

communities, the system help them to adjust their production
schedules/update facility infrastructure to drastically reduce emissions,
avoid potential lawsuits and improve corporate image.[CITATION Mon09 \l
1033 ]

 Just-in-time (JIT) inventory system. JIT is another strategic system

MANGO fashion Company Ltd used in solving some of their
environmental issues to meet requirements. JIT system is a system for
managing a company's procurements related activities which provides
orders from suppliers directly to the company's production time table
(schedule). This system has been implemented by MANGO to increase
efficiency, reduce wastage and production cost by receiving the
needed quantity of stocks as at the needed time and period for
production. JIT stock management system has been effective and
helpful to MANGO especially at the production department because
they can foresee quantity demands and use them for production and
supply. [CITATION Mon09 \l 1033 ]

 Automated manufacturing. Inventory management is one of the most

important and yet wasteful production tasks. Automated equipment
greatly has helped mango fashion to reduce lost or misplaced materials
and help ensure accurate lot tracking. The deployment of this system
gives mango fashion the opportunity for a local supply chain with less
travel which results in reduced pollution. This system helps mango
fashion to be environmentally friendly by creating products closer to
consumers and reducing material waste.[CITATION Mon09 \l 1033 ]

 Recycling app. This provide MANGO information on how to combat

waste crisis such as environmental pollution. By up-to-date useful data
provided by the system on recycling, this enable MANGO to increase
their awareness on where to dump their waste in order to avoid
accumulation of waste landfills. It has assists mango fashion to grow

10
environmentally conscious thus improve their prestige. [CITATION Mon09 \l
1033 ]

 Furthermore, per my research, MONGO does not only use these

systems to be environmentally friendly, they also help the environment
in other ways too. They have developed a Better Cotton Initiative to
encourage the use of sustainable cotton farming techniques, which not
only guarantees worker safety, but also reduces water consumption.
Hence, this has reduced water pollution.[ CITATION Sav19 \l 1033 ]

Task 4

Introduction
Technology has improved regularly since its introduction, and has changed
the routine of how work is done in all the industry sectors. Starting from the
early days to this modern-day "tech" world, technology has played a major
role in the betterment of working conditions. Technology saves time,
11
resources and energy as well, makes work easier and faster, and maximizes
productivity to increase profits.

1. Working environment.
 Mango fashion have to installed augmented reality devices. This
technical innovative system would enable them (mango fashion
staffs) to work conveniently and collaborate from anywhere. It
therefore contributes to effective and efficient operation, saves
time, energy and create harmonious environment for workers to
perform.[ CITATION Kor18 \l 1033 ]

 One of things that one can know from fashion industry is health-
related. Internet of Things would help mango fashion to measure
any harmful chemicals that might come out from their tools or
machines.[ CITATION Tec19 \l 1033 ]

 Installation of voice-activated assistance on mango fashion

device would also help to define necessary information at any
on machine (It will usually provide voice note on how to use
device). This will help mango fashion to eliminate any potential
error.[ CITATION Stoly \l 1033 ]

2. Working practices.
The use of Computer-Aided Designer (CAD) such as Creo would help
designers at mango fashion with generation of concept than the
traditional ways of designing (the use of pencil and paper). The use of
Creo would help designers to put together different kinds of colors and
fabrics and even generate visuals to show how it will look on a real
person and test scalability by changing type of mannequin’s body to
help to reduce fitting. Furthermore, template can be saved and retrieve
when needed. This would help in efficient and good working practices.
[CITATION 3dnch \l 1033 ]

3. Operational processes of Mango fashion.

The use of technology at every single area of the operational

processes of Mango fashion, should consider

i. Production level.
At the production level of mango fashion, KL-361 programmable
CNC sewing machine should be deployed. It preforms complex
12
function in addition to sawing. This system auto reads CND files
(CND explain at the working practice), initiate the sewing path. A
worker of mango will just enclose the cutting pieces into the
template, when the start button is pressed, the system will
automatically start to sew the pattern. This will speed up work and
thus, has help mango fashion to complete on demand orders .
[CITATION Tom \l 1033 ]

ii. Sales level.

Point-of-sales (POP) system should be equipped with RFID readers
which will instantly bring up price information for the cashier, adding
prices to a running total and automatically calculating sales tax for
each transaction. This technology would help to speed up
transaction process of mango fashion, whiles reducing the
possibility of human error.[ CITATION Ben07 \l 1033 ]

iii. Security levels.

Magnetic tags should be attached to all clothing items on the store
shelves and should be paired with scanning alarms at all entryways.
Hence, this would help mango fashion to reduce any incident of
theft.[ CITATION Sup20 \l 1033 ]

4. Interaction between MANGO and its customers.

 E-commerce has become common as the technology grows,
because it facilitates better relations with organization and its
clients which MANGO fashion should adhere to.[ CITATION Wat20 \l
1033 ]. introduction of MANGO fashion e-commerce website will
give customers the possibility to select and decide on how the
goods should be delivered (e-commerce). Also, it will allow
customers to send their feedback and suggestions to the
service. As a result, these would enable managers of MANGO

13
to produce quality products to their customers.[ CITATION Top \l
1033 ]

 Artificial intelligence enables customers to experience real world

shopping. It proactively facilitates conversations with
consumers, provide valuable information that support
throughout the whole consumer life cycle with each touchpoint.
It helps consumers to get the feedback they need without
holding on for an employee, and for that reasons, mango
fashion should adhere to it. Which would help to improve on to
better customer service response and also to focus on higher
value tasks that will provide greater returns.[ CITATION BJC \l 1033 ]

5. Interaction between Mongo partners.

Communication between mango fashion and its partners, Electronic

Data interchange (EDI) would help mango fashion to take away the
manual form of communication processes between their partners. EDI
will help mango fashion to communicate worldwide as a result, this will
improve the relationship between mango fashion and its partners,
minimizing costly chargebacks, late deliveries etc.[ CITATION Edi20 \l 1033 ]
EDI consists of different methods. Below outline recommendation of
methods available which will help mango fashion to communicate with
its partners.

 EDI through VPN. This provides private network service and will
enable mango fashion and its partners to share private
documents.[ CITATION Edi20 \l 1033 ]

 WEB EDI. It conducts it services via the internet. This will help
mango fashion partners who are using different online platforms
to exchange documents over the internet. [ CITATION Edi20 \l 1033 ]

 Direct EDI/point-to-point. This will help mango fashion to creates

a single connection between its partners. In this approach, it
helps to connect with partners individually which is more
secured.[ CITATION Edi20 \l 1033 ]
