1.0 OBJECTIVE
The objective of this method statement is to outline the work sequence and quality plan for the
installation of GI CONDUIT at THE MAPLE OUG.
2.0 SCOPE OF WORKS
The scope of works mentioned in the following section shall apply to the installation of GI CONDUIT.

6.0 HANDLING AND STORAGE
All material should be handle with care and the workers are equipped with personal protective
equipment (PPE).
On delivery to Site, GI conduits and fittings shall be stored indoor, in a clean, dry and ventilated place.
Consignments of material should be arranged in a way that it is used in the order of delivery (First In First
Out – FIFO).
7.0 SUBMISSION AND APPROVAL
The relevant samples, certificates and records pertaining to the material used shall be submitted to
Architect/Engineer for approval.

8.0 WORK METHODOLOGY
8.1 Prior to conduit laying, check and determine the conduit routing, location and height as well as the
size of the conduits required and as per construction drawings.
8.2 The Site Coordinate will prepare a sketch, indicating the routes and conduit sizes to be installed.
8.3 Material Preparation and Routing Identification
a) For the area without ceiling, slab shall be under coated before conduit installation can be
started.
b) Route identification and marking work shall not be started until coordinated with the other
mechanical services.
c) Minor deviation from the approved shop drawing would be determined on site with the
consent of consultant site staff.
8.4 To ensure that the conduit is installed with adequate number of boxes to allow for easier draw in
/ out of cables.
8.5 All conduit size (20mm/25mm diameter) to be carefully sized and chosen to allow 40% space factor
according to I.E.E. Regulations.
8.6 Measure, cut conduit, make thread on the G.I. conduit accordingly.
8.7 Joints for the G.I. shall be smoothed by pliers/ reamer tools to ensure no sharp edges that could
damage cable during wiring work.
8.8 Wireman shall check all installed conduit for possible clogs.
9.0 HANDOVER, PROTECTION & PRESERVATION OF WORK-IN-PROGRESS (WIP)
The Contractor shall be responsible to manage and take measures to protect and preserve their work in
progress as well as work handovered as per requireemnts.
10.0 INSPECTION AND TEST PLAN
The Client Representative shall be informed via RFWI before proceeding with the work. The work shall not
proceed without approval from Client Representative. Contractor shall first inspect the work completed by
worker to its satisfactory prior request joint inspection from Client Representative.
Details of inspection activities shall be carried out as per ATTACHMENT A - Inspection Test Plan (ITP).

Checklists shall be implemented during inspection activities as per ATTACHMENT B – Inspection Checklist –
(ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS).
11.0 HEALTH, SAFETY, SECURITY AND ENVIRONMENT
All works on site shall adhere to the following:
1. Health, Safety and Environmental ( HSE ) Plan
2. Emergency Response Preparedness ( ERP )
3. HIRARC / Job Safety Analysis ( JSA )
4. Material Safe Data Sheet (MSDS) / Chemical Safe Data Sheet (CSDS)
