Check Pulley, Sleeves, Wire Ropes and Slings are suitable for the load to be lifted. Determine the weight of load. (Correct Size, Construction and Grade) 2. Determine the proper size for slings and components. Do not use Manila Rope for Rigging. 3. The manufacture’s certificates or Third party inspection certificates shall be available. (TPI in last 6months) 4. The identification and SWL (Safe Work Limit) marking on the sling and pulley should correspond to the information in the certificate. 5. Examine the Wire Ropes, Slings, Sleeves, Pulley, Shackles for obvious damage. Do not use if found damaged, welded or brazed. 6. Ensure the work piece is secure & well supported in a convenient position for Material lifting. 7. Check Sleeves or Pulley installed/mounted in safe and proper manner. 8. Check all fittings like Shackles, Clamps, Mounting frame, Eye Bolts for damage and deformation. STORAGE OPERATIONAL SAFETY CHECKS 1. Wire Ropes, Slings, Pulley and Sleeves should normally be kept on a properly designed rack/place . They should not be left lying on the Never operate a Faulty Tool or Equipment ground where they may be damaged. – Report it to your supervisor – 2. Wire Ropes, Slings, Pulley and Sleeves if out of the use for sometimes 1. Do not use wire rope in wet or damp location unless they are ■ Abrasion ■ Acute Trauma like Fracture ■ Material Damage approved for the purpose. Never use wire rope which is worn out ■ Struck by Falling Load damaged or abused. 5. Be conscious of your manual handling techniques when removing the PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENTS wire rope from the material. 6. Use suitable hitch to hold the load.
