Responsive Call to Worship:
Leader: Jesus our Lord is risen!
All: Lord, may we experience the power of your resurrection. And live by it.
Leader: The call of freedom has been sounded.
All: Lord, may we respond as the community of the free.
Leader: This concerns every one of us personally, in our place, in our humanity, in this world of ours.
All: Lord, may the spirit and gift of your freedom break the spell of our fears.
Leader: Now send us out as grateful children,
All: As obedient rebels,
Leader: As those empowered by your Spirit,
All: Guided by your love, Disciples of the one who first loved us!
Opening Hymn: My Country ‘Tis of Thee | v. 1-3
My country, ‘tis of thee, Sweet land of liberty, Of thee I sing;
Land where my fathers died, Land of the pilgrim’s pride,
From every mountainside Let freedom ring.

My native country, thee, Land of the noble free, Thy name I love;
I love thy rocks and rills, Thy woods and templed hills;
My heart with rapture thrills Like that above.

Let music swell the breeze, And ring from all the trees Sweet freedom’s song;
Let mortal tongues awake; Let all that breathe partake
Let rocks their silence break, The sound prolong.

Unison and Silent Prayers of Confession Call to Confession: Romans 6:6

Gracious and loving God, open our hearts so that we are able to admit to you the fullness of our lives –
that which is beautiful and good, and that which is hurtful and hateful. We confess that we do not follow
Jesus in all that we do. We love with condition. We judge and condemn. We cast the first stone, and keep
the logs in our own eyes. We do not turn to You as the source of our healing. Forgive us, we pray. Forgive
our sin, and free us to be imitators of Christ in love and service.
Affirmation of Grace: Romans 6:8
Response: My Country 'Tis of Thee | v. 4
Our fathers’ God, to Thee, Author of Liberty, To Thee we sing;
Long may our land be bright With freedom’s holy light;
Protect us by Thy might, Great God, our King. Amen.

Hymn: Let Us Break Bread Together | vs. 1, 2
Let us break bread together on our knees, on our knees;
Let us break bread together on our knees, on our knees.

Refrain:
When I fall on my knees,
with my face to the rising sun,
O Lord, have mercy on me.

Let us drink wine together on our knees, on our knees.

Let us drink wine together on our knees, on our knees.

Closing Hymn: God of Our Fathers
God of our fathers, whose almighty hand
Leads forth in beauty all the starry band
Of shining worlds in splendor through the skies,
Our grateful songs before Thy throne arise.

Thy love divine has led us in the past;

In this free land by Thee our lot is cast;
Be Thou our Ruler, Guardian, Guide, and Stay;
Thy word our law, Thy paths our chosen way.

From war’s alarms, from deadly pestilence,

Be Thy strong arm our ever-sure defense;
Thy true religion in our hearts increase,
Thy bounteous goodness nourish us in peace.

Refresh Thy people on their toilsome way,

Lead us from night to never-ending day;
Fill all our lives with love and grace divine,
And glory, laud, and praise be ever Thine.
