At the beginnig of the summer 1944, the Finns were faced with the possibility that the Soviets could invade the interior sections of
Finland. Northeast of Viipuri, the small village of Tali became the key area for the Soviets as the region was suited for tanks and
transport. The battle that followed was extremely bloody and intense. It was regulated to an area of only 10 square kilometers, but 13 x3
this area was swarming with troops, tanks, artillery and airplanes. Both sides fought fiercely, and great Soviet numerical and
armored supremacy were all the time negated by Finnish artillery, infantry armed with anti-tank weapons and Luftwaffe support. As
a result of mainly poor Soviet planning on one side, and superb Finnish innovative artillery methods and desperate resistance on the
other, Soviets after suffering considerable losses decided to put an end to their efforts in Finland. 14 x1
