Chapter 1 – Review the Key Lessons from Chapter 1 – Explain the five key lessons and
note the importance of each key lesson from chapter 1. Also, note why is it important to
understand these basic concepts.
The information system is the study of compatible networks of software and hardware

that Individuals and organizations apply to gather and distribute information. Information

systems pivot into elements and the role of these elements of information systems. These

elements include network communication, technology, software and hardware and data software

(Baller et al., 2016). The technology can be defined as scientific consciousness for practical

reasons. It is considered a key element in modern days, this is because, a variety of functions are

Data as a component of the information system is defined as a piece of information

formatted in a certain method. Data is intangible just like the software. A piece of data may not

be very useful if is by itself. Individuals and organizations gather all types of data and apply

them to come up with conclusions. The choices are then analyzed as per their effectiveness and

individuals and organization can be enhanced. The software is another component of the

information system which is a set of intangible data that commands the hardware on what to do.

It has two main categories with other several categories that help to operate its systems. These

Network communication is another important element that should be put into consideration. It

enables the transmission of information among individuals as well as the firms. It is important to

acquire the necessary knowledge of these five concepts to run a smooth and profitable business

environment.

Chapter 2 – Note why the IT organizational structure is an important concept to

understand. Also, note the role of IT in the overall business strategy.
It is important to have an IT structure in an organization for guiding and mentoring

workers in that specific organization. The IT system is more reliable when an organization has a

variety of tasks that need to be addressed by the use of the computer. IT plays an important role

in business strategy in the following ways. It fosters innovation in the organization which makes

firms more productive in their practices. It increases the value of commodities enhancing the

quality thus helping a company to achieve its goals when they sell these products (Long., 2018).

IT also promotes the marketing of commodities and services. With the availability of

communication systems such as mobile phones and televisions, a firm can advertise a product

thus attracting the attention of clients. Clients may be attracted by the demonstration of how a

commodity works prompting him or her to buy the product which will yield more profit to the
